Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell said he is ready to move forward with the Redskins after the team tried to acquire QB Jay Cutler. Campbell said head coach head coach Jim Zorn told him he is the team's quarterback.

Why isn't he whining and pouting and demanding a trade? Didn't take him long to be a man about it.

Because he's an average QB with no leverage.

Campbell isnt a better QB but he has better character.
He seems to be working hard to improve and I respect that.
He also knows they cant afford cutler after blowing 100 mill on Haynesworth.

The best part about this trade is when you head over to the Bucs board and witness the total meltdown.:9:

Because Jay Cutler = Jeff George

The trade may help the Bears get to the playoffs in a weak division. However, this move won't put them over-the-top. I think it is a TERRIBLE trade for the Bears. Two first rounders? And a third? You have quarterback issues, true. But you have issues at WR, DE, and OT. You got to the Superbowl with Rex Grossman, a great defense and strong running game. Why not trade for Derrick Anderson, take a DE like Everette Brown in the first and Brian Robiskie in the second? Robiskie would help you immediately though he's not a gamebreaker. But you have a gamebreaker in Hester. Brown gives you a solid pass rusher off the edge. And Anderson is a guy who might not be a franchise QB, but he's competent enough to lead your ball club to the playoffs. Um um um. Cutler is SO OVERRATED!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. There were a lot more missing puzzle pieces on the Bears' roster than QB before this deal, and those missing first round picks are going to come back to haunt them. There defense has gone down hill for two years now, and it's not like their offense was loaded except for QB. Also, Cutler has leadership issues IMO.

QB's that can throw for 4500 yards and 25 TD's are elite.

e⋅lite   /ɪˈlit, eɪˈlit/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [i-leet, ey-leet] Show IPA
–noun. (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

Show me these other QB's who put up those kinds of numbers last year and I'll show you a small "elite" group.

25 TD's and 18 picks is not elite. 17-20 as a starter is not elite. No playoff wins (granted he's early in his career) is not elite. If you want to turn the discussion to the ability to be an elite QB, then you may have something, but to say at this point in his career that Jay Cutler is one of the top 3 or 4 QB's in the league is foolish. Not to mention the intangibles that an elite, supposed leader of a football team should possess (toughness, leadership, ability to handle pressure situations) that are legitimately being questioned right now, and you can save the elite moniker for another year or two.

If your defense gives up 30 points a game, you're not going to win very often. He had one of the best conversion rates on third down and was one of the most efficient QBs in 4th quarters of games this year.

Cutler is in that group right behind Manning, Brady, and Brees.

Jay Cutler finished the year with an 86.0 QB rating. Which is pretty average especially when you consider that it was less than 2 points ahead of Jason Campbell who is no world beater himself. I don't consider Cutler elite for several reasons...

Peyton Hillis, a rookie, seventh round pick, converted FB led the team in rushing last year. He was also the fifth starting rb for the team last year. They had NO stability in the running game.

They had an absolutely dreadful defense that could not stop anyone and ultimately cost them a playoff spot. Cutler was forced to throw the football a ton.

In Cutler's last 6 games he had a QB rating of 78.1 and had thrown 7 INT's to only 5 TD's. He basically has yet to prove he can be consistently good for an entire season.

But, I am sure someone will say "QB rating is overrated". :jpshakehead:

Actually, those numbers sound a lot like Aaron Brooks... and we all know how he turned out with the Raiders.

Jay Cutler is no Drew Brees.

No they don't sound like Aaron Brooks.

As I said earlier, when Brooks comes close to throwing for 4500 yards, completes over 60% of his passes, and throws 25 TD's while doing both those things you let me know.

Maybe it's because he's mature enough to handle it like a man?

It also could be because Zorn and Snyder went personally to Campbell to discuss the possiblity before engaging in talks.
