You brought up the MVP award. My point is that the award doesn’t automatically put one player above another.

To be fair, a lot of those Josh Allen passing stats are either directly set up by him scrambling or due to the defense trying to account for his running threat.

I’m not saying that he’s a bad passer but he is also far from a surgeon out there.

Lamar and Hurts have that same advantage. Allen is a much better passer than both.

I never said that he wasn’t a better passer.

I was simply pushing back (based on my opinion) on the notion that “[Allen] doesn’t depend on his legs like those other two guys.”

I think that his legs are a very big part of his passing success. That’s all I was saying.

Richardson is not in the conversation for #1. He just had a great combine so ofc NFL network/espn will talk about it. Same as Malik from last year.

I don’t understand your argument. Running WB’s have been the norm more in the history of football than passing. You do not understand wing T concepts, or option QB’s? It is the great equalizer against Defenses. It is what football is meant to be 11 on 11. If your QB cannot scramble the Offense strategically is at a one player disadvantage.
If you look at Offenses now. RPO offenses from a spread concept is nothing new. Sean Payton ran spread concepts and 4 verts concepts with Brees at QB. I think this is why he was always excited about Taysom.

They’re both great and I’d be happy to have either as our QB. I would worry about Lamar’s longevity more so than Josh’s.

Richardson is more than an athlete. That’s a lazy description. He has an absolute rocket of an arm. He can be accurate but his mechanics are inconsistent. He works hard as well. If Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and Josh Allen were able to manage to become elite QBs, then Richardson could as well. There is a ton of recall bias here. People pretend that Allen, Hurts, and Jackson were elite college passers. They weren’t.

Allen and Jackson still aren't elite passers, hurts is very good. I think he is the best at not making turnovers also.

The NFL and the majority of threads on this board seem to value athleticism over talent at the QB position. This is why the product has become awful and only a few good teams worth watching.

The fact Anthony Eichardson is somehow even in play for the #1 overall after the combine is a crazy. The #1 objective for a QB is to get the ball in the offensive players hands accurately and quickly. Yet the everyone is obsessed with “arm talent” and 40s for a QB. It’s crazy that the “traditional” QBs are being ripped apart for not being tall enough or athletic enough or can’t throw an 80 yr bomb off their back foot. Yet the same people are in love with the athletic QB with big arm that can’t hit the broad side of the barn or one read QBs. Those traits can’t be taught in the NFL. Consistency can be taught from repetition but not the others.

Next are we gonna want our lineman to run 40s? We have lost sight on what a qb is supposed to be good at. If Lamar Jackson and Jalen hurts are the new NFL standard then count me out. However I don’t think that will be the case, as the QBs with success (SB appearances) are good QBs first and foremost and athletic secondary.

Hes a stud. Florida, as of the past few years has not recruited well at WR or OL. This Florida Team had not highlighted his ability as a QB. I've said multiple times that this guy will test well and kaboom up the boards hes special. Hes much smarter and technical than it shows most assume hes just a running qb because he would literally have to drop back and run for his life every play but he can sling it, he can be erratic but coaching will get him up to speed. Yall saying Levis looks like Josh Allen, No This Kids plays like Josh Allen Right NOW

Processing Speed, Arm Strength and Accuracy,

Fast processors have the most margin for error and can get by with lesser arm strength and lower accuracy ( Lesser not none)

If you are a little slower in the processing department, you can make up for it with greater arm strength and accuracy making up for lost time with increased ability to get into tight windows

The monster comes in when you add the fourth head running. Running hides the inability to process quickly enough, or lower arm strength or accuracy. A QB who makes his living running will have a short lived career as a starter with two exceptions

They can run while working on improving processing speed and throwing mechanics they have a two - three year window to get it worked out. aka Josh Allen

They can run once they have acceptable processing speed and accuracy , as a second option avoiding hits not as a primary means of play making. aka Deshaun Watson, Pat Mahomes

Guys who make the living playmaking with there feet and not their heads as QB's have careers with a short span of high productivity then tale off very quickly .

Its fools gold to believe btw that if they are bigger, faster they can last longer, the guys on D are getting bigger and faster as well.

Rg3 was a beast throwing the ball and was rushed back

Vick got hurt but not more than garapollo and also was hampered by not having any real receiving threats besides alge crumpler Ala Lamar Jackson up until Philly

Cam went to a Super Bowl the pinnacle of being a pro while being the best player on the team
