2018 Draft Prospects (1 Viewer)

The height differences make me want to put them in different brackets. Typically when comparing you look for same size/ I'd assuming you are comparing play styles in this instance so I can't argue that.

Hubbard has Preston Brown size both in the 6'5 265 - 270 range.
Ninkovich at 6'2 and lacking length would immediately make me draw my comparisons to other 6'2 guys vs 6'5 guys but again I think you are using play styles and I don't do enough scouting to make a comparison that way.

Yes I mean in style of play.

Watching Hubbard on film looks like the second coming of Romeo Crennell's Pat's defense with Vrabel or Ninckovich.

I guess you meant Preston Smith in height. He's also similar in height to Paul Kruger who also played olb in a 3-4 but Hubbard is much more agile like Ninkovich or Vrabel.

PJ Hall update. 4.68 to 4.76 40 time. 308 lbs.

http://draftanalyst.com/pro-day-march-26-sam-houston-state-northern-iowa

Hall, who was dominant for three days of Shrine practice, measured 6004/308 pounds. He touched an impressive 38 inches in the vertical jump, reached 9-feet-8-inches in the broad jump and completed 36 reps on the bench.

6'0 and some change. People keep comparing him to Aaron Donald, which makes sense, as their stats are nearly identical.

But PJ's productivity is straight up unbelievable. 14 blocked kicks? as I recall from a pass rusher/interior lineman? Nearly hundred tackles for loss? Was it forty-something sacks? 10 forced fumbles? 30 passes broken up? Some interceptions?

EDIT - here you go. Check out these stats. https://saintsreport.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7011503&postcount=81

I hear you EJW. But let's let him finish his pro day, see the rest of the measurables come in. He's killing it.

 • Compare Hall's measurables to Aaron Donald's.
 • Then compare their productivity.
 • Then re-wind his shrine game tape.
I'm telling you guys, this PJ Hall is a diamond.

Finally got around to checking this guy out.

Btw, hats off to you both for digging him up.

He strikes me as a strictly 4-3 LE in the Reggie White mold. Obviously not as tall but just as athletic size/speed. White went 6-5 291 and could run a 4.6. Bruce smith was 6-4 265 and could also run a 4.6.

Looking over his tape he seems to have gotten his best pressure from the stand-up (elephant) DE position/wide 9 technique. He seems to also have some NT potential but I dont think that he has the build of Aaron Donald and Geno Atkins for 3 tech.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the 4-3 wide 9 left DE would likely be where his body type could succeed in adding pressure early as a pro.

Reggie White himself used to rush pretty often from this stance.

Cam Jordan currently occupies that spot but I also think that he can add pressure on passing downs inside at NT.

I already liked him from that awesome Senior Bowl, but DAMN. 4.46 and a 42.5” vert plus Velcro hands and the ability to get open? Him and Anthony Miller just jumped to the top of my 2nd day wishlist.

I like both of those guys, but Pettis is sitting at the top of my day 2 wishlist. Most punt return TDs in NCAA history. Great route runner and great hands. Can play in the slot and outside.

Yep. Also had an 11'2 broad jump.

Mentioned that yesterday in the wr poll.

He and Dylan Cantrell are incredible mid rd athletes at wr.

Fountain is unbelievably athletic. I think he’s very similar to Cordarelle Patterson, who I’ve always been an apologist for. Put that athleticism with a competent QB and I think he has great utility.

Texas LB Malik Jefferson met with the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints during Wednesday's pro day.

Doffing the cap to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline on this one. Pauline also passes along that Jefferson has five official predraft visits scheduled, but does not tick off the interested parties on that front. The 6-foot-2, 236-pound Texas product is a likely Day 2 selection for the draft. In addition to the Ravens and Saints, the Steelers have also shown interest in Jefferson this month.

Didn't watch many Texas games this season, but the ones I did he looked pretty good.

PJ Williams is a FA in a year and Robinson is over 30. Hughes would be sort of an insurance policy/depth pick.

No way they can trade that high, costs way too much. I did a breakdown in another thread - total value off all eight picks in 2018 only gets them to #17 overall. Which would be crazy, and still wouldn't be enough to bag Edmunds. Throw away future picks too? - madness.

Any opinions? - Yeah.

1) Vander Esch is going first round, he won't be available in the 3rd. Great player! that won't be there.
2) DJ Chark is long gone before the 5th. Another great player! that won't be there.
3) Fumagalli is gone before the 5th. Another great player! that won't be there.
4) Deadrin Senat - I really like this pick. He might actually be there.

You have some good players in there, so I salute you for taking good names. But the problem is that board from Fanspeak is way too nice - and way unrealistic. It's not your fault those players are available - it's the board's fault. I've communicated to the owner of Fanspeak before - and got instant replies. That's a good site, I love the site, and I respect the management. But the owner is not responsible for terrible boards contributed by other people.

I also was surprised that some of the players were available so late in the draft. One name that I am intrigued by late is Oren Burks. Looks like he could be a late round inside linebacker that is a steal.

Pick 27 (I think the pick will come down to these 8 players unless someone unexpectedly drops or they shock me and take Bama safety Ronnie Harrison to replace Kenny Vaccaro if they don’t think Vonn Bell can play strong safety. I see Kurt Coleman as Rafael Bush’s replacement)

Taven Bryan DT Florida - looks like a pass rushing menace from the inside, but I think he can also play on the outside. NFL.com comparison is none other than Cam Jordan. I’ve seen people also compare him to JJ Watt and from watching some highlights I see why. I think he could play DE on early downs and move inside to pass rush early on till he bulks up.

Rashaan Evans LB Bama - probably the guy I like the most for the pick, but with the addition of Demario Davis it makes me think he may not be the pick if available. Now if he can play some SAM then maybe we do take him.

Sam Hubbard DE Ohio St - he is likely the best defensive end to maybe be available at 27. He looks like a good all around DE, but nothing too special as a pass rusher. I wouldn’t be upset with him being the pick, but rather Taven Bryan if available.

Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise St - I have him right behind Evans at linebacker. Like Evans I love his size, but since adding Davis I just don’t see where he would fit in. Like Hubbard I wouldn’t be upset if we take him.

Courtland Sutton WR SMU - a big target that could come in and be our number 2 receiver from the jump. My only problem with him is that he may be too much like Michael Thomas. I would rather get a guy like DJ Chark. Someone that is big and really fast as our number 2. He ran a 4.54 though, so it’s not like he is slow or anything.

Christian Kirk WR Texas A&M - he would be a great slot replacement for Willie Snead, but maybe he could replace Ginn as well as the number 2. He’s fast and could give us a dynamic return man as well. Just like Sutton, I think I would rather Chark or St. Brown as well, but unfortunately we don’t have a 2nd round pick.

Hayden Hurst TE South Carolina - he’s the only TE worth of a first round pick IMO. He’s the total package and would fit in real nice. My only problem with him is that he will be 25 by the time we start playing, so he’s already pretty much maxed out physically. I really don’t want to spend a first round pick on a 25 year old.

Lamar Jackson QB Louisville - Michael Vick 2.0, but maybe even better IMO. I would love to see what coach would do with this type of talent at QB. But like I most I worry that he will run too much and get hurt in the process. This guy can make any throw and keep plays alive with his dynamic athleticism.

Pick 91: (I’m hoping that this pick will be a tight end or pass rushing DE. Unless a reciever like DJ Chark or St. Brown fell here)

Dallas Goedert TE South Dakota St - I think there is a good chance he falls to this pick and if that’s the case I would be ecstatic. Love his size and wish he was a little faster.

Dalton Schultz TE Stanford - another tight end that could be taken here if available. I hope we can somehow end up with one of my top 5 TEs and this guy is my 5th one. Now that we have added Ben Watson, if we keep Fleener I think we can wait a year to take someone. Not as huge a need as before IMO.

I’ll just list my DE prospects I like for both pick 91 or 127. I like all these guys about the same, but tend to lean to the better pass rushers more. They are in no particular order.

Jayln Holmes DE Ohio St
Tyquan Lewis DE Ohio St
Chad Thomas DE Miami
Josh Sweat DE Florida St
Marcell Frazier DE Missouri
Duke Ejiofor DE Wake Forest
Dorance Armstrong DE Kansas
Rasheem Green DE USC
Ade Aruna DE Tulane

Nose tackle prospects(I wouldn’t mind taking one from the 4th on)

Harrison Phillips Stanford
BJ Hill N.C. St
Derrick Nnadi Florida St

Kahlil McKenzie Tennessee
Greg Gilmore LSU

Possible Strong safeties(I would like to get one from the 5th on)

I think Quenton Flowers deserves a long look as a RB at the next level.. Was watching some film on Foley Fatukasi in 2016 against USF, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s Marlon Mack or Flowers running the football. And the guy’s patience is a thing of beauty. I’d seriously encourage everyone to check out this tape. You’d have a hard time finding a RB’s individual performance that really pops out this much.
