2024 Tropical Weather Thread (18 Viewers)

I think Clearwater is going to dodge the worst of it but that thing looks pretty “saily” - who knows
lol, that's exactly what I thought once any decent wind gets up under there.

This is a picture of the recently music built venue in Clearwater. A you tuber was saying they thought it would make it through since it was undoubtedly "made from very strong materials". I say it won't make it. What say you guys?

Large sail shaped surfaces are well known for their resistance to 20 foot tall walls of water.

I flew a prop plane one time in life... USAir from Charlotte into Hilton Head Island. After that experience, I just flew my arse into Savannah and drove the rest of the way.

And here my dumb arse made that trip between Anchorage and Kenai in a Twin Otter twice a summer from '83 to '90.

I posted on face book my ax in the attic advice. Some people got it, some people said "?????", one person said, ha, ha, you're getting ready for Halloween. By the way, the Halloween person was the one I was most trying to reach with that advice. They are in staying in place in Seminole in a one-story house.

Yeah, I was thinking about width, not strength, trying to imagine that with the strength how wide the damage is going to touch. Knowing Katrina basically filled the Gulf, I'm guessing it won't stretch as wide.
I don't know about Milton, but according to this, Helene was larger than Katrina in terms of miles wide. Milton definitely looks smaller than Helene.

If the winds are still above 135, that thing is going to look like the Spokane Pavilion.

Ryan Hall coverage. A crap ton of tornadoes. There are people losing their rooves right before they get all of the storm. Where is Brandon Clement, y'all?

Katrina had tropical storm force winds 500 miles in diameter and hurricane force winds 250 miles in diameter, winds, not gusts.
