Yeah it was a horrible place to watch baseball games. Had a stupid catwalk. Really not designed for baseball. Hopefully it gets leveled and the Rays get a new ballpark which they have been asking for years.

They already have plans for a new stadium. However, that is a few years off.

That's a dumpster on that house. A great big dumpster.

Our weather here doesn't dump dumpsters. We get rain and snow.

That dream of living on the water? It'll have to stay a dream..... for more reason than one.

ETA: Unless I build a geodesic home on stilts

@bclemms , when you get a chance, let us know how Jonathan's house fared.

and if you didnt know....salt water ( vs fresh water ) flooding is the most insidious of all.

renders the electrical wiring in the home/business virtually useless, as over time, will corrode the conductive copper. So it has to be pulled and re-wired.

if you're in Picayune, you might only be a few decades from that dream
Oh, sadly, I'm sure I made a few jokes like that around Katrina.

So so far what's being reported is now up to 11 deaths. I've seen some local people saying quite a bit higher than that. At least the power outage numbers are slowly starting to come down.

Tell that to my flood insurer for Katrina. :)

Don't know if it's been reported yet, but I just read that "Lt. Dan" in Tampa survived the storm and is fine.
lol, that's all anybody wants to know. WXChasing I believe drove to where he was last night and spoke to him and he is indeed okay.

My Dad weathered it ok...Some birdcage damage (again) and trees/fencing downed. Still no power or cell service, but he was able to drive out of his North Port location to find a signal. Their friends in Venice were not so fortunate--lots of home damage from water and falling trees.
My Mom's house in Ruskin was beat around pretty good. Back lanai was ripped off and sent far out into the golf course. Water got in some areas, too. They were able to get back there today, no power yet.

You know, all the guff we give -- rightly -- Facebook, THIS is what it's good for (and I'm sure also X, Insta, and TikTok). As people are able to get power and internet back on, it is a GREAT one stop place to let your people know you're OK. We didn't have that for Katrina. It was a struggle trying to reunite. I remember going to the message boards for the TV station in the first couple days trying to find anybody. Myspace and Facebook were young so there was no ONE online spot everyone at least had a page even if they don't use it much. I've seen I think everyone I was monitoring post that they are "marked safe" and able to connect with others, too, if they need help or a place to go or something.
