Fox8 alert just said Cat 2 by landfall.

That may be a bit of wish casting by Fox 8. WDSU 6 is also showing a Cat 2 but WWL is not. I don't see anywhere else saying it will be a Cat 2 by landfall. The National Weather Service in the latest advisory just said hurricane without giving a category. The intensity models do go up to Cat 2 but the middle is still a high Cat 1.

Of course, they could end up being right and the intensity models aren't very accurate but I don't think there is anything definite saying it will be a Cat 2 at this point. But, maybe I'm just hoping they are wrong?

WLOX said Cat 2 100mph by Wednesday.

it is worth noting people seemed to be taking this seriously. Louisiana Officials have map out plans. This is good news. Florida was not prepared earlier in the year for their hurricane. They got slammed for partially being lazy. Louisiana seems on the ball on this so far.

I thought you were on the North Shore? Slidell even?
Further north even. North of Slidell. But we are in the cone of uncertainty and possibly on the wrong side and I don't like it. I was already in the, Well, we don't have to worry about no more hurricanes this year, phase.

I hear you. I've had two houses flooded in hurricanes and 4 wind damaged (including the 2 that flooded). I don't need another one and I don't have the tolerance for hurricane tension that I had Pre-Katrina.

I hope all these people that bought Generators know how to use it and take care of it. I’m watching the Jefferson Parish presser . Sounds like it was a problem for IDA

Cheaper to not have insurance now. That is what it has come down too.

Sure it's cheaper, but it's also a giant risk because it covers more than just hurricane damage.

And beyond that, it's required by most Mortgage companies so you have to buy it unless you own your house out right.
