Isn't that a normal meteorological phenomenon? A storm will suddenly intensify right as it make landfall.

The winds in Morgan City had been directly out of the east. Now it’s definitely out of the northeast. A huge pine tree (60 ft high) in my neighbor’s yard is now whipping in my direction. I’m not very happy right now.
