2024 Tropical Weather Thread (4 Viewers)

here is an interactive map of all the S&WB pumping stations-

so folks that want to read that thread can also correlate with location of stations that went down/offline, when to see how @#$@#$#@$ up this mess is.

So DPS 12- is the station that pumps from Lakeview- bounded from Orl/Jeff parish line to Wisner and Lake to HArrison.

it has ONE. Just ONE 25Hz pump.

One.

The new station ( Post Katrina ) - DPS I10 ( the one all can see as coming/going from City ) doesnt even have a listed TRIBUTARY - the new one with 3 new 60Hz pumps.

I had never once looked into where the stations were and what areas fed them, but this map above will give all a better understanding of how reliant this city is on ALL of these stations operating in unison and any failure at any one ( ESP DPS 6, 7 and 4 ) will cause a cascading effect, reducing the ability of others that feed them ( like DPS 1 or DPS 2. )

whew. i never knew it was this much of a tightrope walk. WOW.

Oh yay, our new police chief elected to stay at her speaking engagement for 150 women on the west coast of Canadia instead of coming back for her first hurricane.

I don't think it would have made a material difference for anything, but it's a bad look.

The thing is that I know they aren't telling the whole truth because they claim only one pump went down in my area, DPS 7, but no water was draining from my street until after 11:00 and they claim only one pump went down in DPS 7 at like 6:30 and that the frequency changer was fixed by 8:00.

It might have made a difference had the storm been worse. We all know how NOPD gets when a bad storm comes through. They needed their leader present to attempt to keep them under control.

Yeah, I definitely agree with that.

Seeing lots of people from New Orleans complaining about entergy and power restoration. How is it taking that long? Metairie and Kenner took a much bigger hit and I noticed lots of places back up already out here, including places that flooded.

I mean, most of NOLA is up just like JP. People always think it takes too long, but it takes as long as it takes. I got the complaints in Ida when it turned out that one old, rusty, and not maintained tower on the West Bank that fell was the key to all power in NOLA and it would take a week or more to route around it. But this has essentially only been a day.

It sucks and I'm lucky to have only lost power for 3 hours, but it's not like they aren't trying as hard in NOLA. The main area with out power in NOLA is an area of Uptown with lots of trees that probably fell and took out power.
