A microcosm of Winston’s career (1 Viewer)

You watched a different game than I did.
I watched a game slowly realizing that we weren't going to win the game at halftime when we had scored a whopping 3 points and had just given up a TD to go down 24-3 at half. So what about the 3 points we scored in 2 quarters of football and the 24 points given up by the defense made you believe we could/would still win?
I mean you're saying we watched a different game so you must have still thought we would win after halftime, no?

It's not hope... It's what I see. He's the only guy that has played QB for us in the last 3 seasons that consistently wins, makes winning plays, creates momentum, and puts fear in an opposing defense... he also forces this horrible coaching staff to play a different / complementary brand of football... what's cute is that some fans and these coaches believe that we can keep rolling the same backup level pocket passers out there in a league dominated by mobile QBs... and do anything but be mediocre.

So do you honestly think TH could play TH style ball from the QB position and last an entire season? Because if you do, you're delusional.....also his overall QB stats say something much different from what you're espousing....I think he is a guy that can come in and win a few games if needed but not a long term solution.....
Duece Windham , another " I took a Class Guy" so now I'm qualified to give expert (LOL) advice on youtube

That guys a blowhard, I have zero respect for him.....
The Chiefs were a top 5 offense in 2017 with Alex Smith. Smith had like over 4K yards passing with 26 TDs and only 5 interceptions.

His record was 50-26 as the Chief's Starter. I always felt like he was grossly underappreciated in the NFL.

He obviously was never the same player after the leg broke in 2018, and it's a miracle he even survived and still has the leg.

Totally agreed, he was a really good player and guy. When he was with WFT they sold shirts I think they said "Alex Smith is back"....both my boys got them.....he's a good guy and a vastly underrated QB (as you said).....

Dude is still upset that Sean Payton named Winston the starter over Hill over his strenuous objections.

Nah, I think the towel knows as well as we do that DA has no intentions of playing Winston in anything other than the circumstances he's played in so far this season. DA's worst nightmare almost came true when Jameis almost pulled off the comeback. Hell, I think he'd avoid playing Taysom for the same reason. Anyone other than Haener outplaying Carr makes him look like a buffoon for committing nine figures to a QB who can't seem to get the offense going unless he's given a short field and is so far the worst QB on the roster in the red zone.

I didn't take it that way, just every time someone talks about Alex Smith I feel obligated to talk about how great and unappreciated his 2017 season was and how he was playing the best football of his life when the leg was broken.
I feel the exact same way about that 2017 season. I remember saying that Hill did more to change that offense than Mahomes did and people were ready to jump on me but when you see what Alex Smith did with Kelce and a raw Tyreek Hill compared to previous seasons, it would make more sense. I always felt that he was unappreciated, not just as a player but the culture that the Chiefs have today is the culture that Reid and Allen built.

I'm also in the minority that believes that if Alex Smith got another year with the Chiefs + the green light, he would have been a front runner for MVP and they make a deep playoff run.

To me, Alex Smith is probably the best game manager of all time. I mean that in the best way possible.

LOL...glad family travel made me miss all of the craziness the past few days..haha.

Actually, it was more of the offense/scheme that allowed better choices. People talks about how CSP's playbook and calls are outdated , etc, etc but the fact is he still knows how to build around a player. Finally got to finish the game yesterday and it is no reason the run should have been abandoned when we got to 1 possession. He had some bad throws but it wasn't as bad as folks are trying to make it. I would take good with the bad, as long as it puts us in position to win. But I've also been one to say that I didn't care about interceptions when Drew was top 3 a lot of seasons and I don't care now. Scoring wins more. If we had more scoring early instead of that slow start, the game might have been different.
Bud I totally agree PC abandoned the run way too early. And when JW went it I was really pulling for him. I was happy to see us score 2 TDs but if you or anybody else think those 2 TDs were anything but prayers answered by amazing catches then I have a couple of bridges I know you'll buy.. JW made a couple good throws but he mad more bad throws and POOR decisions. he should have had 3 picks instead of 2 in lest than a half of football. AND the last one with 2 mins left closed the door on any comeback for us. It was a BONEHEAD decision of a few he made. But that's YOUR JW. Shame because I was really hoping he would not be JW doing JW things

This is why these arguments are so stupid.

Carr was over mid-field when he got hurt and driving. Who knows if he gets a couple of TDs late in the game. He's done that multiple other times this year with slow starts. It's impossible to know how the game plays out one way or the other.

You guys want hero ball that leads to winning 4 games a year but looks cool. Okay, that's not what you are going to get. So why are people still arguing?
Sounds like the old saying " Who cares if I lose as long as I look good doing it"

Actually, that first TD was a great throw and a greater catch. When you look, he put it in the only spot a play could be made and only Olave had a chance. And that's a pass he has made plenty. When Drew threw the same pass, we praised the accuracy. Crazy how things are seen differently depending on who performs the action. Now the pass the AT was NUTS...haha.

But truth is, the game probably went a lot different if we went back to the run but we can talk about JW doing JW things but being down 27-3, what options did we have? Again, we should have started running more when it became a 1 possession game but at this point, what's done is done. We can talk about what he should have had in terms of picks but crap, we should have had more than 3 points before he came in down 24. Not you exactly, but there are a lot of people that got more energy regarding 2 interceptions than they do the fact we were halfway through the 3rd with only a FG. Again, if we would have went back to the run, I believe we win that game.

I remember that being a knock on Josh Allen coming in (when he couldn't complete 60% of his passes). He had a freaking cannon for an arm but that got him in trouble. Building the offense around Diggs really changed his trajectory.
The crazy thing about last night's game is, yeah, Allen had his turnovers but he also led the comeback. Defense dropped the ball here.

But I feel what you are saying. Something that I've said and I still stick with is I care more about scoring touchdowns than interceptions. I've seen Drew throw plenty of game sealing interceptions and it didn't bother me that much because more often than not, he kept us in those games. I know we crap on Sneaky Pete but something I've felt is this is Dennis Allen's vision for the offense (while Sneaky Pete didn't pay attention in class for 16 years..lol).
Brother, you have a revisionist memory. While DB did throw a few maybe game-sealing picks and some were not his fault he did NOT throw plenty. Let's not try and fault with DB to make it seam like he and JW are from the same planet LOL

That throw was basically like a trust fall...lol. He trusted AT more than I did when I saw it let go. But I also know that if Mahomes made the exact same throw, majority of the board would be cleaning up after themselves playing what if about the 2017 draft.
Sorry bud , if PH made that throw it would have been a lot sooner
