Andy Dalton is PFF’s 2nd highest graded passer this season (1 Viewer)

None of anything you say, or argue, validates in any manner, a "2nd highest graded passer" position.

He's overrated and overvalued because he is a savvy vet, who knows he will be looking for a new team AGAIN next year, and is willing to sacrifice trying to get first downs, so he can make a check down pass that makes his completion percentage look better on paper.
I don’t really care if anyone thinks he’s the second highest graded anything.

It’s just another one of many metrics that shows he’s been better than average this season. And I’ve posted a ton more in this thread dispelling a lot of other myths about his performance.

He’s not a franchise guy. We need to address the position aggressively this offseason.

But again, the point is that his performance hasn’t been the reason our record is so poor. He’s had a couple bad games. He’s had more good games. And he’s had some average games where his supporting cast (coaches and pass-catchers) have failed him miserably.

Trevor Lawrence has over 1000 more passing yards, 7 more touchdowns, and the same number of interceptions. I guess it is the 0.8% higher completion percentage that Dalton has on Lawrence that puts him so much higher...

He hasn't been better than average, your whole argument was that he was average.

Average QB, with no "killer instinct," who historically shrinks on the road and in primetime.

Our losses are not Dalton's fault, but neither are any of our wins.

Our record is what it is, because our coach AND quarterback situation is what it is.

There is nothing to back up what you’re saying about him except opinion.

There are a lot of facts and metrics that back up the other side.

I like facts and metrics and film study.

Hasn't Lawrence also played in 4 more games than Dalton? So if Dalton is averaging 1.5 TDs a game along with 218 yards...that would give Dalton 872 more yards and 6 more TDs to go with his current numbers.

And just what is the problem with Dalton's passer rating?

The problem with Dalton's passer rating from PFF is that his rating is higher than Joe Burrow's, Jalen Hurts', and Josh Allen's passer ratings, when the usual numbers (TDs, INTs, yards per game, completion average, 1st downs) don't reflect that.

At this point in the season, not playing Winston if he is healthy, so you can evaluate him for next season, is completely ridiculous.
Allen has already made a decision on Jameis and Taysom at this point, that's quite clear.
Trying to highlight what's "not bad about a player is not a positive attribute. At his prime Dalton was a solid, not special QB. He's in his mid-30s as a QB, who is below average in all the key metrics like wins, red zone, etc. Allen is so bad as a coach that he's not even to swim, he's just trying to stay afloat. That's why Dalton is perfect for him.

Hold up you didn't say PFF passer grade, you said passer rating. His passer rating is solid, even comparable to the other guys on the list. You can just say you don't like him without mincing words.

Well this thread officially answers where Andy Dalton's cajones went.
