Andy Dalton is PFF’s 2nd highest graded passer this season (1 Viewer)

The point is that good players drop passes, but Taysom is getting criticism for dropping a pass that should never have been thrown. Again, other teams drop more passes per attempt, with some of those drops by good players, and they tremendously outperform our offense and our WL record.
You think it never should have been thrown. But we used to celebrate Drew for throwing those passes.

It just doesn’t add up. It was a GREAT throw given the situation and playcall. It wasn’t caught. Whoever you want to “blame” or “credit.” It was in the pass-catchers hands and it wasn’t held.

Because we don’t have playmakers good enough to get that many targets, lol.
So Olave is not good enough?
Rashid is good enough to haul in 60+ yd TDs from the part time QB.

If you line up as a receiver in the NFL, you should be good enough to be targeted.
It also raises the question why a WR is not being targeted. WR can't get open? QB doesn't have the confidence to make he throw? QB doesn't see the WR open? I know that last one happens a lot in the Saints offense.

Look at the names on that list! Kelce, Gabe Davis, Diggs, Ekeler, Chase Waddle.

Come on, man!!
Exactly. Look at the names on that list. And while you are at it, look at the QB's throwing to them. And they still move the ball and win games. There is no "if Kelce doesn't drop that one pass and Valdes catches that one pass, the Chiefs are in the playoff hunt".

His QB rating might be a big factor here. He's pretty much neck and neck with Allen on QB rating. Besides, as much as people birch about Dalton, he's not the reason this team is as bad as we are.
Right. Anyone that blames Dalton for our record simply has an agenda, no debating that.

It’s like people are mad at Dalton because he’s playing over Winston. Like it’s Dalton making the decision.

Please show me where I said Dalton was as good as Mahomes.

I’ll wait.

I’m not “blaming” Taysom. But I’m certainly not “blaming” Dalton for throwing an absolute Dime that Drew used to throw in those situations.

A dime? Taysom had to leap and twist his body against his run so he could catch be ball behind him. And never mind throwing the ball right on the path of the incoming safety, or the open Olave with nothing but grass between him and the endzone. How's that a "dime", let alone an "absolute dime"?

Be careful. That much straw is a fire hazard.
You pointed out two Chiefs. Most of the names on the first page of that list have QBs who are obviously and undeniably better than Dalton.

But sure. I’m the one building a straw man.

Because the ball was placed exactly where it needed to be placed.

It’s the NFL. You have to throw in tight windows, especially on 3rd and long, and receivers have to make adjustments and great plays, even on well-thrown balls.

He didn’t call the 4 verts play. Blame Pete. He made the best throw he could.
The best throw he could would have been a check down since we had the lead.

Again, rewatch the 2nd down play. Between the pressure and personnel, It was doomed. And again, it doesn’t matter if the catch is made on 3rd down.
Drew would have checked out of the play or checked it down. We had a lead. On 2nd down, we had plenty of time to throw, all receivers had made their breaks before anyone got past our line. The ball should be out on the break. I won’t argue the play call and personnel, but throw it or throw it away. It’s not PC’s fault that he didn’t do one or the other.

It was a terrible throw given the situation, we had the lead. Get some yards on the check down and run some clock if you don’t get there. I’ve seen Dalton’s supporters celebrating him taking the sack on second to run clock but now he’s hero for throwing a pass that is incomplete nine out of ten times on third down.

NFL gif of the year.....

All of those are incorrect, lol. It’s kinda hilarious that now people want to hammer Dalton for NOT checking down on that play, when even Drew would have recognized the situation (defense turning shaky, Brady turning in to Brady and us needing first downs).

People hammer Dalton when he checks down without looking downfield first.

Drew would have recognized the coverage, and if he didn’t and made the throw, the difference would be that all the Dalton supporters here would be bashing Drew for taking that throw instead of checking down, given that the Bucs beat us with 3 seconds on the clock (and would have needed to gain an extra ten yards or so with one less timeout if we had checked it down).

Ok...so what is the point of this thread? Our QB that can only muster at most 2 TDs a game with 2 outliers is the 2nd highest rated passer this season?

We surely must be winning games then...right? Oooohhhh, we're not...so that alone tells you that there's something more to that number than just that number.

And that should be the entire conversation. Because now all of a sudden we got all these excuses when Dalton is losing games but none of the same people raising those excuses wanted to hear a damn thing weeks 1,2, and 3. Nobody cared about Kamara's scoop and score vs Carolina or the blocked kick or the missed chipshot....nah "Jameis' 2 INTs cost the Saints vs Carolina" somebody actually posted a video with that title...seriously.

Only reason why AD is still starting is because anything else really puts DA's coaching future in jeopardy...even more jeopardy than what it is currently in. Can you imagine if JW or TH started and we absolutely blew a quality opponent out? I actually think they'd be some sort of physical fight between the players and DA if that happened.

Thanks for wasting an entire season Allen, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

The point is that people blaming Dalton for a large number of the issues are being unfair.

Yes, Allen should be fired.

The Bucs beat us with three seconds left because Brady bled the clock and they didn’t use their timeouts.

And if you really think Drew would have checked down there, I question whether you actually watched Drew play, lol.
