A lot of you "PC" people simply do not get it. You all seem so obsessed with being "the center of attention" (and what are "my rights"), that you miss on life's true gems. In fact, the joke is really on Colston for being so introvert - not on the fans. And think about it. Whom do you tease the most? Poeple you love and respect (otherwise you simply ignore them). So, take it as a complement as "being one of the guys in the Saints gang",and share this experience with a smile, rather than whinging like a 4 year old girl. Nobody got hurt nor killed. Get in the game and start acting like a man!

Pretty sure this is the first time I've ever been accused of being "politically correct" :spit: .

I don't have a whole lot to say about your post, because it's awful (that's me being politically correct and not calling the post what I think it's a piece of). How sad that we've gotten to the point where "nobody got hurt or killed" is the barometer for whether a player is out-of-line with their actions.

And once again we have a case where the autograph-seeker is basically told to "grow up" (some have said that directly, with statements about "whining like a 4 year old girl"......others have been more passive with "i don't think grown men should wear jerseys" or "why seek the autograph to begin with?"). It's possible some of those people don't get to attend Saints games, otherwise they'd see 2/3rds of the SuperDome wearing jerseys......and people trying to get footballs signed, etc.

I've never had anything signed in my life, autographs aren't my thing. I don't wear jerseys anymore either. That doesn't make this right and I know that if I judged anyone for being a fan, I'd be a huge hypocrite.

I'm neither impressed by Coleman, who has never accomplished anything on an NFL field, nor all the fans here who are desperately defending his actions. The guy has every right to feel angry, upset, embarrassed, betrayed or however it made him feel about this. Any of you perched up on your pedestal, bemoaning adults who seek autographs, are a bunch of hypocrites. Go spend countless hours watching adults wearing pads and tights play a game so you can get some self-worth and then come talk about wearing jerseys and getting autographs.

Just because you're a Saints fan doesn't mean you have to agree with everything any Saints player ever does.

It's embarrassing how sheep-like people can be when you even suggest someone on your favorite team is a prick. If you spent $200+ on a decent Jersey and wanted to get it autographed, you would be irritated too at the least. Pretending otherwise is just denial, plain and simple.

Or I could have said this, because it's spot-on. I went to WrestleMania 30 last year in New Orleans.....because, while I'm not quite the pro wrestling fan I was 15-plus years ago.....I still wanted the experience. Naturally you see alot of guys dressed up as their former heroes (Hogan, Savage, etc), with many others wearing the shirts of the current generation of wrestlers. Personally I haven't owned a wrestling-themed shirt since 1999........and, unless some close friend or relative of mine got into that business, probably never will again. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna be all pompous about it and roll my eyes at those who wanna have their own fun.

This absolute gem from the comments section tho...

If you don't know who Marcus colston is then you don't need to get his autograph. You should know which saints player you are getting an autograph from. Idiots.

Could be worse.. You could have an autographed Superbowl Darren Sharper jersey in a $350 frame that your wife went alone to get signed to surprise you for your birthday.

My wife kept saying how nice he was when she met him too.. Sheezis.

Now I have this super nice framed Superbowl jersey with a serial rapist signature. So it just sits in my garage.

Burn it.

Hell no. Remember the wife's gesture, not the jack ***.

Unless he comes down with Alzheimers his memory should remain just fine. Otherwise he has a trophy idolizing a rapist just collecting dust and taking up space in his garage that will never be used or displayed in public again. If destroying it doesn't work for you. Bury it.

I hate that he bought 2 different jerseys to get signed. Honestly, I would never get a player's autograph for myself, because I think it is odd for an adult. If I were at some event where a player were signing autographs, I would just get him to sign it for my kids. But it honestly seems greedy to go buy 2 jerseys to have a player sign. If it is so great to have an autograph remind you of some "connection," why buy 2?

It's funny if it didn't happen to you, but yeah that would kind suck. I don't need to spend 100+ bucks on a story to tell of some WR who no one has heard of and may never will.

To everyone saying grown men shouldn't wear jerseys or ask for autographs, can you please write down your hobbies so I can tell u how stupid they are thanks.

Church^^

I don't wear/own jerseys or seek autographs either, but this man has a good point right here.

Let's hear your hobbies so we can belittle you.

So Coleman is a prick and the people who aren't upset by this are sheep in denial?

Okay, shouldn't stop with Coleman then. If he had Colston's helmet (or name tape) and jersey, seems likely he was in on it, too. And by the description of what happened, other players as well. So Colston - by all accounts a stand-up, hardworking, productive, high character player - is a prick if he had involvement in the gag?

Like I said, I can understand if some of the fans who were involved felt disappointed but that's about as much of a reaction as I can muster. I think a lot of us agree it wasn't a good idea, but I don't feel like a sheep because I'm not sharpening my pitchfork and lighting my torch; I don't consider myself to be in blind denial because I don't think an ill-advised prank is cause enough to start criticizing Coleman's character.

If Brandon Coleman ends up being a Pro Bowler I think your friend will be just fine with that jersey in the years to come. If he's released and never plays a down, well that would suck.

I think it's weird when grown men wear a jersey with another man's name on it; or a jersey at all, unless they play a sport that necessitates it.
I hear this trope way too much, so let me explain it to you in a more personal way.

Go into your closet and look at all your shirts.
How many say the name of a band you like, the name of a bar you like, the name of a car you like, or the name of a vacation resort?
How many say Nike or Pink or Hollister?
How many say Vegas, Disney, or St. Croix?

Jerseys are the same. Jerseys with names on them are a way of expressing individualism. They say I am passionate about the Saints, and I like #50 Stephone Anthony.

And in my case I am also saying, "I look d*** good in Black and Gold."

What's wrong with taking taxidermied mice and arranging them into elaborate dioramas?
