Battlestar Galactica Discussions (MERGED)

This show is too often forgotten in discussions of greatest TV Series ever. It's always in my Top 5.

Damn bump. Made me think there was rumors of a new special more substantial than Blood & Chrome :(

A few months ago I watched the entirety of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 on Netflix and I was pretty struck by how many of the ideas found on BSG (especially related to spiritualism, identity, predestination, the cyclical nature of the universe and other such themes) Ronald D. Moore worked into that show as a writer. In fact, a LOT of the episodes he wrote or had input on almost seem like a dry run for what he would do on Battlestar Galactica. Obviously BSG is much more dark and less pulpy than a Star Trek series, but the ideas are absolutely there and pretty recognizable if you've watched both series.

If you watch the original BSG, campy and cheesy as it is, you'll see many of the same themes which were carried over from STOS. Many of these themes recur any sci-fi books throughout history. Sci-fi allows us to explore those ideas that we are perplexed with today.

And yes, Sheba still has it. I talked to her for 10 or 15 minutes and she was one of the nicest people I have ever met. As a matter of fact, everyone at ComicCon was save for maybe Lou Ferrigno.

From - Maren Jensen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jensen was a longtime companion of singer-songwriter Don Henley. In 1982, Henley released his first solo album, I Can't Stand Still, and dedicated it to her. She is credited for "Harmony Vocals" on the song "Johnny Can't Read," and is credited in the liner notes for having composed the piano intro and interlude on the song "A Month of Sundays" on Henley's 1984 album Building the Perfect Beast. She appeared in the video for Henley's song "Not Enough Love In the World" in 1985. Henley and Jensen were engaged, but they separated in 1986.[1] Jensen helped Henley establish The Walden Woods Project in the early 1990s, an organization dedicated to protecting the Walden Woods in Massachusetts from development.

Reportedly she suffered from Epstein-Barr and dropped out of the limelight all together after a couple of bad movies.

Happy 10th Anniversary BSG!!

One of the best shows ever and the one sci-fi show I would someone who says that they hate Sci-Fi

Battlestar Galactica: 20 Best Storylines and Moments - IGN

We have started watching again and are in the beginning of Season 3. I also used a guide this time, to watch Razor in a more appropriate slot than when it came out. I have to say that there are many details which I had either not noticed before or had forgotten. I just hope that this rewatch helps me to resolve some of the questions that I haven't been able to answer about the conclusion. We're typically watch a couple of episodes a day, which helps to tie things together better.

Loved the new BSG.. The show doesn't have much rewatchability for me. Except maybe the rescue from New Caprica.. Because I know all the surprise moments ahead of time. I liked the ending of the series, but so much goes unanswered it seems.

i don 't think "plot" (surprise elements and the like) is really the strong element of BSG
small arcs (what's going to happen with Gatea, what happens when Helo finds out, the in and out relationship of the Adamas and Lee & Starbuck)
ALL the political intrigue
ALL the psychological intrigue (what does it mean to be sane? human? spiritual?)
etc etc

being chased by cylons, will they find new caprica, will the mutiny work???
those are just excuses to get to some really profound stuff

Just finished the series, took about a month. Damn I enjoyed that. Was Caprica anywhere near as good?
