Blitzer tells atheist tornado survivor:"You gotta thank the Lord" (1 Viewer)

Well this is the problem with blind faith, thanking your god for sparing you when he chose not to spare someone else. If god is all powerful and all knowing then why did he feel like you were more deserving of being saved than the ten children who died?

Life is painful, sometimes we have to just accept that and not look for some greater plan when we're surrounded by inexplicable suffering.

You would have to ask god why he spared who he did. Also its not because someone is more deserving that they were spared.

Wolf: "You're blessed and I guess you gotta thank the Lord right? Do ya thank the Lord?"

The way he said it just sounded a little pushy and obnoxious. I think if she wanted to thank the Lord or anybody else she would have done it, just sounded like he was insisting she thank the Lord before the interview ended.

Exactly! it wasnt a blind notion, he was reaching for something and when it slapped him in the face, it made him look stupid and rediculous. What she should've asked him was, "Did you thank god you were not part of this disaster on your way to interview witnesses?"

spare
[ sper ]

  1. refrain from harming somebody: to refrain from killing, punishing, or harming somebody or something
Given the definition of "spare" you acknowledge that your god killed those children since he did not spare them.

Well I might as well ask Santa why I never got that red wagon I never told my parents about.

If god is all knowing and all powerful then why would anyone be more deserving than anyone else? God knows what he is doing right? How can a harmless child be more deserving of death than an old person? These are the unknowable questions that you open yourself up to when you assume there is a plan that one all powerful being controls.

And thats the part that religious folks dont care to look at . They want to stake claim that god is loving, all knowing, all powerful and all blah blah blah. But dont you dare turn the tables saying god kills little babies and picks and chooses who will die in catsrophic tragedies ect. What about suicides? God obviously knew about it upon "allowing that person to enter life?" Yet allowed them to enter anyway "knowing" this would happen. Now I'm not trying to offend a soul when I say these things. But its not a rediculous notion to look at like this side of things as well when you're going to defend religion.

Ok you preach "free will" but if god is "all knowing," theres no such thing as free will right? After all, he knew youd do before you were ever brought to earth. So thats a bunch of bs. I believe in free will. I dont believe god has a hand in it therefore he's not all knowing. Otherwise hed know when you die and how. So now that we've cleared this one up, lets go to all powerful. How much power does he actually have? Not one living person has yet to verify his existence, what he looks like ect. Now I'm not going to say there's no supreme being or whatever out there. But if its a big gang, god or whatever, we were created not so much by him or it with an intent or reason but out of pure coincidence. Like that of an organism on a bread crumb dropped by one of us. When we die we see nothing. I have one simple question about all of this. I've heard of ghosts. I've yet to see one. Im very skeptic and those that lay claim to have seen say reason I dont see is because Im skeptic. Well the same can be said for santa clause or the tooth fairy. Is or isnt there ghosts and is there a place where you've an 80%+ chance of seeing one?

I've already addressed this. It has nothing to do with deserving. Also most Christians don't see death and going to heaven as a bad thing. So its not a question of deserving to live but deserving to go to heaven. Most Christians believe we are here for a reason or reasons. In the aspect of life these reasons could be minor or very serious. Our life however short or long does not end until we have done What we have been sent here to do.
