Blitzer tells atheist tornado survivor:"You gotta thank the Lord" (1 Viewer)

Can you imagine how long this thread would be, or how fast Blitzer would be fired, or how big the national ****storm would be if instead he'd asked a religious woman, "Well, in the wake of all this destruction surely you don't by into that God nonsense?"

it's probably why Richard Dawkins was never a field reporter

I'm kind of stuck on that.

I just don't see how we came from nothing.

I don't necessarily not believe in a god or intelligent creator, I just don't believe that the universe revolves around us. But then again, where would that creator have come from.

Sometimes I feel as if religion is just a.) a way for our ancestors, our deep ancestors, on the other side of the globe, to explain the unexplainable, b.) an ironic attempt to bring order to the world, and c.) a way to comfort ourselves into thinking we're somehow important.

It seems a bit egotistical.

I'm open minded about it, but I don't want to believe in something just because my parents or grandparents say that I am supposed to or because a book that was written on the other side of the globe thousands of years ago tells a story of a person that rose from the dead. I need more evidence than that. I would love to have it and, like many, be comforted.

I went to a catholic high school, went to church growing up with my parents, and heck, I even send my daughter to a Christian elementary school and will allow her to make her own decisions on it. But I just need more.

Well said. And don't forget d) great way for the church in the good ole days to add fees/taxes. If you don't pay you won't go to heaven.

No, she thanked chance. It wasnt her time to go. Or... she couldve thanked the tornado for not taking her life.:idunno:

Or she could have thanked common sense.

If I told you a freight train was going to hit your house in 20 minutes and that freight train is moving ENE what would you do?

A) Get in the closet
B) Lay in the bathtub
C) Grab your family and a couple important items and drive south a few miles until after the train passed
D) Ask God for advice

Seek cover and pray?

Well, C is the obvious choice because A, B & D all have a high propability of being dead with D being the highest.
