Brandon Cooks - RUMOR (4 Viewers)

I’m sure Loomis has ”made a phone call” to every team in the league about a receiver on their roster. The FA options are extremely limited so it would make sense to go after Cooks. But right now with limited cap space and quite a few other needs he‘s a pretty expensive option (salary and draft picks).

FA WR still available (that we dont have to trade for):

Julio Jones
Jarvis Landry
Will Fuller
Jamison Crowder - Signed with Buffalo
TY Hilton
Cole Beasley
AJ Green
Emmanuel Sanders
Keelan Cole
Sammy Watkins
OBJ
Dede Westbrook
Damiere Byrd
Marquez Valdez Scantling
Few more great prospects that didn't get any PT cause they were buried on depth charts too.

We don't need an expensive me first prima donna with concussion issues.

Cooks IS NOT a free agent, they are going to want draft capital for him.

Cooks has always been good, his problems though are twofold. First, he avoids contact like the plague and always has, even in college. The other is the guy trips and falls when he even Sees a DBs shadow. If the Saints are going to keep him on the perimeter and use him in routes of lesser contact, then it’s fine. If they expect him to run physical routes no use in even trying.

Remember when he was here both him and Ingram were complaining about lack of touches. Payton fed them both. The difference is Mark had the best streak a New Orleans RB has ever had with the possible exception of Rodgers. Cooks numbers went down and was shown the door after that season
Here's the thing...If I don't call you on this, people are going to believe that his production went down and then he left. Here are the facts...his last season in New Orleans was actually his best, despite having a game where he went without a TARGET.

And every season where he played a full season...he got 1,000 yards...and he didn't need 160-170 targets to get there. Use one of our 3rds to bring him back and draft another WR in rounds 1 or 2 and we'll have a top WR corp in the league....maybe not the best, but top 5-10.

Correction 2nd best...me no math too gud

There's no one else left basically and you know we're not going into the draft with an obvious hole.

11 players had more yards on fewer targets. and several others had 1000 yards with less targets than Cooks.

and his stats are hella inflated because there is NO ONE else to throw to in Houston. Their second leading target only had 60 targets

You know he isn't going to be happy coming here and sharing targets with CGM. He's a "Me First" player.

I don't get it...what are you guys mad at him for? Is it because he allegedly complained that Drew couldn't throw downfield? Drew couldn't, pretty sure we're at the point where we can acknowledge it...denial at this point doesn't help anyone.

Is it because he got mad about not getting a target in a game where we racked up 400+ passing yards? WHo wouldn't

Brandin Cooks is currently better and more likely to stay healthy than pretty much all those guys. So yeah, there are options, but know what you are getting.

Jarvis Landry is well on the downslope. Cole Beasley has concussion issues without the 1000+ yards receiving. Julio Jones is a shell of his former self. AJ Green is done. OBJ is a walking injury that continually misses time. Emmanuel Sanders is a good 500 yard guy, but he's not Cooks.

And calling Cooks a prima donna while listing OBJ? Come on lol...

I don’t necessarily agree with all of your post but I 100% concede this point!

I wouldn’t hate signing cooks as a free agent, I just hate trading for him and his big contract.

We draft well, we don’t need to be giving away draft picks for a player with concussion issues.

Our leading reciever was Calloway with 46 receptions and 6 td so Cooks would be a great addition to the offense. You can still draft a reciever in the draft we were going to give up a ton of draft capital for Watson we can spare some for a proven still productive reciever.

Well if we do have a couple wrs with gaudy stats usually it helps with the wins department especially with a defense like ours, Jus Sayin
Yep no one knows what will happen with AK and MT been out of football due to his injury. Also teams have to be extremely lucky to not lose key players in Training camp and preseason games.
