COVID-19 Outbreak Information Updates (Reboot) [over 150.000,000 US cases (est.), 6,422,520 US hospitilizations, 1,148,691 US deaths.] (2 Viewers)

Absolutely no one here has defended China in any way. All I care about is the truth. If we don't know, we don't know. It doesn't matter what we think we know.
Agreed on all three points.

- China obviously started the pandemic by either (1) sloppy security at the lab; or (2) they eat bats sold in an open market. Either way looks bad for China.

- We don't know. The DOE conclusion that hit the papers yesterday was the second of two US government departments that pointed to the lab. And there have been four other US government departments that pointed to the bat markets. And, just last week, the Sam Harris podcast had authors of a recent well-researched book on the cause and they said they do not know. Nobody knows.

- All of those experts and authors know a lot more than the public, but folks will validate their own suspicions no matter what.

so you think the governments explanation for origin of COVID 19 was done to appease the Chinese government?

I think it's more likely than not... Yes. I thought that from the beginning... I now think (more so than at the beginning) much of what we have been told and guided to do by our government officials since the virus arrived here... has been more motivated by power/political optics/money... and less about public health/safety/transparency... I know... "shocker". I'm going to leave it at that so we don't go down the rabbit hole on this... really just wanted to post the WSJ article because I hadn't seen it here yet.

And just to be clear... I have no idea for sure... just based on my own personal background and experiences... one is way more plausible than the other, and I find myself going back and reexamining all decisions made and directives given.

I am not one of those people who thinks that the government must always tell the public the whole truth. The public isn't mature enough for that sort of policy to work.

I know what you are saying man... But really Disagree... that's why we are where we are as a country now... being baby-sat by a bunch of lying, bought and sold, ego maniacs... that use lies to "protect us"... I'm not 8... Covid ain't Santa...

Ok... Done now.. LOL

I'm not sure it was even that. When China was identified as the country of origin Asian hate crimes shot up like 8000%

and that's when people thought covid was from someone eating a bat, if it was confirmed that this was an intentionally engineered virus for potential use as a bioweapon who knows what would have happened

and the DOE still says they have low confidence in the report, which I took to mean as natural origin was still far more likely

and I've always thought this and probably posted it earlier, i think much of the origin debate was a way to distract from all the mismanagement that came afterwards

If all the anti mask, anti vax, anti mandate, misinformation, free Michigan, etc. was going to happen exactly the same way if we knew for an absolute fact it was a natural virus as if we knew for an absolute fact it was from a lab why spend so much effort trying to figure out where it came from during the middle of the chaos? we had much bigger fish to fry

I understand why it's an important question, and one that needs to be addressed but, i always felt it was a deflection

Things are classified top secret for a reason, not everything the government knows and is doing and planning on doing should be on the front page of the Washington Post

That's silly talk, there's really no reason to appease China when it comes to Covid. And we haven't. It's not like we can invade China and go find out what happened. We certainly wouldn't let them come her and do whatever they want either.

"us" isnt all things equal.

You seem to be logical, rational and think things through. Others dont.

There are WAAAAAY more OTHERS than of you. And those OTHERS ( or some within ) dont necessarily abide by the rules either.

So decisions are made in the "general" sense ( of population ) - cant carve out 2 narratives. ( those who can deal with the truth and those who cannot )

If you want answers, be mad at the idiots who cant handle truth.

How many US GOV employees, contractors. and politicians are bought and sold by US Corps and Special Interests? How many of those Corps and Special interests rely on trade and production from China? Follow the money....

  • U.S. goods and services trade with China totaled an estimated $615.2 billion in 2020. Exports were $164.9 billion; imports were $450.4 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with China was $285.5 billion in 2020.

my argument to that is they still would have done business/trade etc with China even WITH Chinese lab release ....and folks would have probably heralded some sort of punitive measure(s) against China.

Then, 3 months later, when that "widget" they used to buy weekly for $10 is now American Made for $25, the populus would have found it within their interest to forgive.

LOL

( and like you, its ALWAYS about $$$ - but in this case, at that time, i dont think it was about $$$$- context in regards to trade w/ China around that time )

Therein lies the reason... pun indented... Americans would likely forgive with their wallets in mind... WWCD in retaliation for blame?

They had no evidence at the time to support their assertions. Good policy isn't made on the hunches of conspiracy theorists.

I disagree that there was no evidence to support the assertion that COVID infection created immunity, and not just from conspiracy theorists (nice ad hominem). It was only 'conspiracy theorists' who said it might have come from the Wuhan lab - until it wasn't.

But I'm going to leave this one alone going forward.

Are we going to file this under "no ish"? Or just brush it to the side along with all the other lies we've been told by the government since this whole thing started?

Did they make the same mistake CNN did? (A few posts up). Can't read the article.
