Went to Academy over by Harahan, shoes were on their last leg. Did not see many employee's in masks and many customers not wearing them. I am so concerned about the reopen.

Yep. At this point, it's not a matter of having to worry about getting the N95 or anything like that. You just need something to cover your nose and mouth. A shirt will do the job of containing your droplets. People just need to realize this minor inconvenience needs to happen.

Thought about this families who have downsized after kids went to college and all of a sudden they’ve back and sleeping on couches/floors what not
That’s gotta be fun

Yeah, we have 2 bunk beds in the kids' room. Girls on one side and boys on the other. It's crowded for sure. But it's working out ok.

That said. A lot of families probably don't have the dynamics to do what we're doing. Most of us are somewhat homebodies, so it's not really that hard for us. I actually think it's harder for someone single because the lack of physical touch would be tough to deal with. In a family of six, we're leaning a bit on each other to make this work.

Interesting how that changes by location. I live by City Park and I go to the grocery on Veterans near the Parish line or out in Lakeview near the lake. I find that only maybe 25% of the people in those stores are wearing masks. (I'm one of the 25% BTW.)

Freshmarket only allows customers that wear masks. Pretty smart IMO

Yes, Illinois has surpassed Pennsylvania, which is getting ready to open up very gradually with construction returning on May 1. Some regions of PA have very few cases, but the Phila. area where I am is bad. It's not hard to imagine that construction jobs will have to redo projects that couldn't be buttoned up when they were closed down.
I think May 1 is no longer accurate for construction. Not sure how much longer I can take this.

We still have a stay at home order in effect, but I'm seeing ongoing construction of a large condo complex across the street. I'm not sure how that works though.

My wife went to Lowes in Gonzales on Saturday. She said it was the most cars she's ever seen at that location. It was like Lakeside shopping center during the Christmas rush. Oh, and maybe 25% of the folks had masks.

What good is it to have all of these small businesses closed for safety reasons, yet a big box store can reap the financial rewards and the virus (theoretically) can continue to spread amoungst the crowds. That's why I've somewhat taken a different look at this lately. If you are gonna shut down, do it for real. Otherwise, start opening back up in a controlled manner. If there's a concerning spike in cases where health care is getting swamped, take the necessary steps at that time. At this point, our "lockdown" is simply a half assed effort.

Yeah, they would have a waiver to work. We've got some construction projects in my area that have waivers. In the meantime, a roofing company that defied orders has been fined. I will not be able to work until Wolf says so. I'm in construction. Now it is either by counties or regions and # of new cases per 1k. It is really discouraging because the May 1 or May 8 date seems to be a thing of the past.

I mean, I get how it looks that way, but home repairs are a necessity and that's why Lowes is open. That being said, I think a lot of people are using this time to do home remodeling and home upgrades not necessary repairs. That's why places like Lowes and Home Depot are so crowded. Hopefully, those stores are doing stuff to limit the number of customers, but I don't know since I have not been to one.

But, I don't really understand how Academy Sports counts as a necessary business. All other clothing stores are shut down as far as I know and that's most of what they sell other than fishing and hunting equipment.

i went to Covington Lowes at 8am.

No longer had the line "queue" ( one in, one out ) and it was PACKED AT 8 AM. Had my mask, and probably 50% of those in also had. Aroud 11 am a buddy called from Lowes...never seen that many ppl in Lowes.

Went back sunday- and they had the line queue back in effect.

I guess they said EFF THIS waaaaaaaaaay too many ppl lolol

businesses can control the traffic flow, but cant control what ppl choose to do ( wear mask in public ) unless they go the route of like Fresh Market - wear a mask or shop elsewhere.

I don’t want to seem judgmental, but curious to
See if there is a correlation between liberals and conservatives regarding wearing masks? More rural areas tend to lean Republican and might feel like this virus is not that big of a deal. And that our country should be reopened by now. Again, not trying to be rude, but wonder if there is any correlation.

Yeah, I think all groceries and other retail places that are allowed to be open should require face coverings to enter and/or stay in the store. It's not fair to the people who work in those businesses deemed necessary to have to be forced to be potentially exposed by people who don't want to cover their faces.

I watched this guy at the grocery on Friday who had his face covered while walking the isles, but then when he got to the check out he pulled the face covering down and kept leaning around the plastic shield to talk to the cashier. After he left, the manager came over and told her and the bagger to go wash up. Not sure if they have a rule about washing every so often or if it was just in response to seeing that customer get up in their faces with no face covering.

By the way, I wasn't stalking the dude, but it was impossible not to notice a guy using an American Flag bandanna to cover his face and I happened to be behind him to check out. :)

People are using it to do normal home stuff they do every year. Things like planting flowers, shrubs, trees, etc, spreading out mulch and fertilizer. And more people are probably doing it themselves instead of paying someone because all of a sudden we have copious amounts of time. But none of this is "needed" or necessary. I guess as long as the numbers stay below the line, then it's all good.
