Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups (2 Viewers)

Anybody know anything about outdoor antennas? My dad is looking to hook one up @ his house . I know he'll need a mount or pole to put it on.
Will he just have to run it to his old cable hook up? Also, will he need a grounding pole as well?
Can Anybody share a little insight into this?

I put this one in my attic over my garage. I ran the coax to where my cable comes into the house and hooked in there so that it hits all of my tv's. I initially just had it standing on the floor of my attic but eventually mounted it one of the rafters to raise it a little higher. I don't think it made a difference in reception. I did have to purchase the mounting arm separately. I get ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CW, PBS, Bounce, and Create. I've found myself watching Create more than any other channel.

Thanks.
I've been wondering about mounting it in the attic (as opposed to outside on the roof). How much did the mounting arm run you?
I may tell my dad to try it out in the attic first, just to see what kind of reception he gets. This would probably be a lot easier than putting it outside.

I have this one inside my attic but I couldn't get all the channels well. I am about 50 miles from the towers in my area. So I moved it outside with no issues at all.

Now looking at that link again, they're now selling it with a mount for $135. In 2015, I paid $119 for the antenna, $21 for a mounting arm, and $13 for 50ft of coax.

Thanks.
Tell me about mounting it outside. What did you need/have to buy to mount it?
How did you ground it?

I had an old directv dish on the roof...took the top off, put this in place, the end. At least that is how it was done. I did not do the work. I googled antenna installers in my area, got a few quotes and had a guy out to do it. I did not think it was going upon the dish pole but that is what he chose to do.

So let me ask this question...

Is it possible for one antenna to strengthen another? My dilemma with the Leaf antenna in my bedroom is well-documented in this thread. The other day, I was scanning through channels when all of a sudden, channels that I originally had not had. I had not conducted a re-scan of the channels or anything. The only thing that has happened is the addition of the 2nd TV and antenna in the living room. The placement of both antennas are close to each other with only the wall between them. I always thought that one would interfere with the other, not strengthen it.

from another thread I just remembered. Seems like a fun DIY if you have the time.

In the old days multiple antenna could cause ghosting and other problems. I don't know what would happen now that they're using ATSC.

So let me ask this of those you currently use PS Vue. Can it only be used on WiFi? I know they place restrictions on what you can watch when you're not on your home network (which is dumb IMO), but the other day I was traveling from the hotel to the airport on a strong LTE signal (unlimited on AT&T) and it tells me the network isn't avaiable. If that is true, it might be a deal-breaker since I do a lot of traveling during certain times of the year.

Does SlingTV have the same restrictions?

So what are the options to watching the NFL without an antenna. I want HD picture btw. Not that crappy streaming you get on the FirstRow.

I've looked at NFL Go International with a VPN but I read they are cracking down and it this year and I don't want to waste $200 plus VPN costs.

Yeah, you can't watch PS Vue away from home....

However, according to their website, You can watch Sling TV "at home or on the go."

This is no bueno. I had no issues watching it while in KC because I bought my Fire Stick with me, but the fact I might not be able to watch while at the airport or something is enough to make me want to switch and give Sling a try.

No sweat.
I think you just have to finish out your monthly billing cycle and then you can cancel your subscription. Check out that link I gave for instructions on how to cancel your PS Vue.
