Darren Rizzi’s presser: “I’m an accountability guy. We’ve been doing things the same way here for a long time. Change is needed.” (56 Viewers)

Change is needed, like:

• not trying to field punts at the 5-yard-line
• not kicking off the ball through the back of the end zone when time is not on your opponent's side
• not instructing your kick returner to bring the ball out of the end zone when time is not on your team’s side

Go get em, Coach Rizz!
I actually agree with you on this one. If he preaches accountability, our STers sure as hell don't order their steps in his word

Where is this 6-2 coming from? Isn't Tipton like the #1 or #2 WR? How do you make that work? The talent on the roster isn't going to change. Maybe they make fewer mistakes and play a little better. But they aren't going anywhere without the tools to do so.
I'm gonna call a spade a spade here...I haven't seen anything about Tipton that tells me he's gonna be any more of a contributor than Austin Carr was. He hasn't shown 4.3 speed even once. "He looked great in camp!" And...?

Just watched the presser. You knew Riz was going to bring the energy. That's who he is. I expect them to come out amped up on Sunday.

The real question is does it translate to wins on Sunday? He's obviously put in a tough position mid-season.

I just watched a depleted Tampa team take the defending champs to OT at KC. That team is also missing their two top receivers. I didn't see any quit in them.

The energy that everyone has been looking for in a Saints HC

From a workflow standpoint, the head coach not being an offensive or defensive play caller gives the head coach the advantage of not having to say focused on play calling and adjustments to play calling. They can be more emotionally reactive to plays and players, because they don't have to move on to calling the next play. There was a time when the best NFL head coaches didn't call offensive of defensive plays. They were true team and game managers who could focus on the macro big picture without getting bogged down in the weeds of the offense or defense.

I hope this situation works out with Rizzi, because when teams are successful, their coordinators get hired as head coaches. If Rizzi works out, then he will have an advantage in attracting new coordinators, because his offensive and defefensive coordiantors will both be calling their own plays.
