Darren Rizzi’s presser: “I’m an accountability guy. We’ve been doing things the same way here for a long time. Change is needed.” (2 Viewers)

Deuce said “I don’t need to call out players numbers just turn on the tape.” Rizz says he is an accountability guy. Has anyone watched film to know what seems to be obvious to the players?

What was Deuce implying? Could you tell?

So the interviewer asked “without naming names or saying numbers is there a lack of effort?” And Deuce got pretty loud and said “I don’t need to call out numbers just turn on the film!” Again he yelled “watch the film, the film speaks!” Starts at 17:10 in the video

I'm not going to predict that Rizzi will be a successful head coach, but just from that one press conference the difference between him and Allen is stark.

One talks like a football coach. The other talks like someone doing an impression of a football coach.
You hit the nail on the head. The visor, the gum, starting every sentence with “Look”, his pace up and down the sidelines. DA was trying to be Sean.

I don't either. That's why I think if Rizzi somehow got them to finish 6-2 it might get him the job.
Two things are in Rizzi's corner right now:
Gayle likes him, and the players respect him and trust him to bring in accountability to all those under him.

And if this is REALLY his style as a coach, it could have a powerful effect on how hard the team plays for him for the remainder of the season.
If he can make that big of a mark with a team as broken down as this one currently is, he should be more than the coach. He should be the president!

When I heard this^ radio interview with Deuce earlier today, it was easy to tell how emotional he was about getting this thing fixed.
He seems to already know who doesn't belong on this Saints team. But he clearly indicated that it won't be hard for the new guy to identify the ones who can't pass the 'game film' test.

Rizzi is the right guy for the job at hand. Great press conference.
He definitely said the right things this afternoon. But his words mean nothing if he can't bring some credibility to this team.
Heck, I'd be happy if he could just get his squad to execute an effective 4th & 4 play!

yes, LOVE what I heard, but I'm under no delusions this fixes everything, or even fixes anything. I just want to see this team playing with inspiration, emotion, and grit, rather than going through the motions. If that happens, I'm good with it, regardless of W-L column. Keeping DA was death by 1,000 papercuts. I don't know that Rizzi is "the guy", but I have NO DOUBT that DA was NOT. So now, at least I have hope again.

It might be better; it might be worse; but it sure won't be more of the same ole same. And I'm good with that!

And don't care how it happens, but hoping Mrs. B addresses the other half of the dynamic duo. Mrs. B dropped the boom, not our GM, so that tells me something too. I'm just not sure what it tells me...at least not yet. Get ALL the cancer Mrs. B...get it ALL!

In retrospect, he probably should have been the choice if they were trying to just build on what Payton did.

I think he's going to be a good head coach one day, but I'm not sure it's going to be here since I think they are going to want to change as much as possible to get rid of the DA stink that had infected the team. But, if he can finish 6-2 or better he might have a shot. Especially if Loomis is still the GM making the call.
That’s why I said they literally wanted to try him out as head coach. So they wouldn’t feel like fools for letting another one get away, like they did with Campbell. 1/2 of a season should give us a decent amount of time to evaluate him. It woudve been better for Rizzi if he at least had a tiny buffer, and fired DA after a 5 game streak, then he could’ve legit had a chance to turn it around. Oh well it is what it is. I can see us going 6-2, to finish out. Which could possibly earn him a job.

I will admit at one point I was not a fan. First year seeing how he was so animated for just being a special team coach when the offense or defense was in the field just seem annoying to me. His first year, special team wasn't all that great and I wasn't happy with him. But hearing him for the first time, I was intrigued and amazed at how knowledgeable and engaging he was. He was not just a hyperactive and animated person. Like me, alot of reporters really enjoy his take with things. His press conference is longer than most. No prediction from me and no one knows how everything will play out. But good choice for interim.
Special teams is its own game and requires insane amounts of adrenaline and hype to be good. Thats why spec teams coaches are all animated.
