Darren Rizzi’s presser: “I’m an accountability guy. We’ve been doing things the same way here for a long time. Change is needed.” (1 Viewer)

Too bad our WRs are done for the season. I don't think we can win many games like this.

Rizzi is definitely in probably the hardest spot to win games, ATM.
He also has the best chance! Our schedule is still weak. He just needs to inspire low level talent to play balls out is all!

Bro he’s long been here. Snake oil.
I know he's been here. But there are things you think you would do hypothetically that you would have to really consider for a bit longer and a bit more seriously if you had the actual power to do so. He's had 12 hours and hasn't even met with all of his staff yet. He's not just going to rattle it all off during a Monday press conference. Expect more later in the week.

Can anyone think of any successful head coaches that were primarily special teams coordinators outside of John Harbaugh? This isn't a knock on Rizzi just can't think of anyone other than Harbaugh.

On the surface it makes since to me though. He's less involved with offensive and defensive game plans and play calling and the ratio from offense/defense snaps to special teams snaps leaves him more available even if he's involved in his forte leaving him more time to actually take on the responsibilities of being a head coach.

In retrospect, he probably should have been the choice if they were trying to just build on what Payton did.

I think he's going to be a good head coach one day, but I'm not sure it's going to be here since I think they are going to want to change as much as possible to get rid of the DA stink that had infected the team. But, if he can finish 6-2 or better he might have a shot. Especially if Loomis is still the GM making the call.
If he goes 5-3/6-2 with this mash group I’d give him the job tbh.

The record itself will be irrelevant at this point for the rest of the season. It's about his ability to get guys to buy in, play hard for him until the very last second, and rally around him in these last few games. If there's one thing that I appreciated from a guy like Campbell is his ability to get his team to rally around him and play hard for him no matter the circumstances. (His 3-13 season)

It's about the process now rather than the results. If he can showcase the ability to lead and get his guys to really believe in him, I think he'll be a good candidate going into the off-season.

I liked what I heard and how I heard it.

I remember watching Sean’s first conference and thinking the same thing. If you pretend that you knew nothing about Rizzi, including his coaching history with us, how would you like what you heard from him today? He sounded like someone that I would be good with giving a shot. A lot of the time, the fan’s perception about a new head coach hire is premised on what little they know of their past. If we are honest, most people will admit, even thought they liked what they heard during Sean’s first presser, they were still like “he is unknown, he doesn’t have the experience, ect.”

At the end of the day, including Sean Payton, no one really knows how a coach will translate to the head coach role. He has an opportunity to make it his own and show why he should get a long term opportunity, same as every other head coach.

I’m rooting for him. With that said, the bar is so low, all I need to see is an energetic sideline and I will be ecstatic. Lol
