Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (2 Viewers)

The OL isn’t nearly as bad as our QB situation is.

We need a RB for sure. That can be addressed in the draft.

And yes. These are all opinions. But all you have to do is look at recent QB contracts to see where opinion turns in to fact relative to viable starters. Last year’s deals took a big jump. And this year’s will likely do the same. Just the way it is.
So just because everyone else is writing bad QB contracts we should? That's bad logic right there. Its like your wife coming home from Kirklands bragging about how much she saved, when she could've just saved all of it by not going to Kirklands.

No, but the next coach might be if Allen gets canned after this season. The right coaching staff and offense can go far with Carr and decent enough talent on offense.
As a Raider fan I have watched Carr`s every snap the last 9 years. Below is a BR college scout report on Derek Carr and I can honestly tell you it is still dead on today:

  • Footwork needs improvement; he often retreats from pressure and throws off his back foot. Needs to step into his throws more consistently.
  • Poor decision-making under duress.
  • Average pocket presence with wavering poise and unrefined pocket movement.
  • Stares down his intended target. He needs to improve eye discipline.
  • Too often appears to be flustered by pressure. Can be quick to flee the pocket.
  • Inconsistent mechanics, has a tendency to lock his lower half and throw with his arm alone.
  • Struggles when his receivers’ routes are disrupted.
  • Often late to recognize the blitz. (this one doesnt apply)
  • Operated almost exclusively out of shotgun with four or five receiver sets.
  • Not an anticipatory thrower.
  • Will not hurt defenses on the ground. He has enough mobility to get by but is not much of a running threat.
  • Hangs his receivers out to dry at times.
  • Does not appear to see the field very well, throwing into double-teams occasionally.
  • Struggled with top competition. College career ended on a lousy note as he was erratic
I would add: Horrible PA fakes, almost non existent........ and plays poorly in cold weather

In Raider forums the last 9 years, there are always Carr fans saying, "Carr just needs...." the excuses are endless.

The most frustrating part is he physically has all the tools to be great but he lacks the mental toughness to override his fear of contact. He has zero pocket awareness and more than once fumbles the ball before actual contact in self preservation. He rarely hits a receiver in stride (see bullet point 10)

At best, he can be a mediocre game manager as long as his salary is consistent with that.

At worst, a $40 million/yr liability that needs a top 3 surrounding cast everywhere around him so he can be carried.

Good luck

PS: If Carr ends up here, you also adopt his dysfunction brothers Darren and David and the Ca Central Valley Carrdashians/Carrsaders that will infiltrate your forums

Well that sounds terrifying...probably should've led off with that

"The house is okay, the AC could blow cooler and you might need to replace the water heater...oh BTW there's a colony of Tarantulas in the pantry...good luck"

So here’s a question. Let’s say Carr goes to Jets, what QBs around the league will be a FA after next season? Is it possible the best move might be to let this season ride and look to the following seasons FA pool as well as potentially a new coach?

I think the best option would be to draft Hooker.

Being from where the Carr’s are from I can definitely tell you they are not dysfunctional. I honestly haven’t heard of any negative stuff regarding any of them. One coaches the local football team and the other is obviously on TV…

My point was they are very whiny petulant children if anybody is critical of Derek. You will see (if he signs here)

My brother is a die hard raider fan and Carr is one of his favorite players but he has had frustration with him through the years

Exactly. And it seems like Dennis Allen is still only willing/capable of making us tuna casserole even if Mickey buys him a bunch of expensive-arse groceries from the organic isle.

Hahaa true but that bills defense deserves all the blame I believe. Best de in the league then in the playoffs they can’t get 1 stop
And their all world QB can’t stop committing dumb turnovers. They have snake-bite disease right now and the QB gets blame as well as the D.
