Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (3 Viewers)

But this is why I always criticize coaching. When DA said we were going to run the same offense we have been running for the past 16 season, I knew we were screwed because we didn't run the same offense. We pretty much had the pieces for a 2008-2014 Saints offense; QB who can hit the intermediate/deep routes with ease, possession receivers, vertical deep threat(s), athletic TE, and versatile RB (although I admit that we fumbled the bag as it relates to the RB room). What we ended up rolling out what a rehash of what an end of his career Brees would run. If they couldn't recognize that, I don't know how they think that they can recapture what Pete did in 2012. Crap, we used motion, screens, and crazy formations (yall remember 3 RBs in the backfield). We didn't see anything similar this season..

Last year was weird. Winston missed part of training camp and never really looked comfortable to start the season, then he got injured again. It definitely wasn't something for Pete to be proud of. But, hopefully he's able to look back at what didn't work and learn from it and get his mojo back from 2012.

From finishing 3rd in their division?
We aren't in a position to question anyone. Plus, the Bills don't look as dominant now, and Miami is far from a powerhouse. All we have is a preexisting relationship with a questionable coach.

The post said the Jets are a QB away.

They have an average roster in a difficult division of the toughest conference.

I just don’t think they’re a QB away from anything other than a wild card berth and losing to Cincinnati or KC in the opening round of the playoffs.

Watch the national media; the consensus is that they have a younger, up-and-coming defense and solid pieces on offense. The owner has already said that's how he views things. We are the only ones that think we are a potential contender. Shoot, most commentators think Carolina is a better option for Carr than us. I have not seen one media person, outside of the city, suggest we were the better option. People even sat Carolina is a better cultural option.
I'm not saying Carr will not select us, but we're being a little delusional in thinking we are the better option.

Don’t really care about the national media’s opinion on a team in the number-1 media market. They have some good young players. They also have some holes. Like a lot of teams. And they have a much tougher road in the AFC east.

What are there holes outside of qb? Didn't they have the OROY? Division games are always tough, so why do you think our division will be a pushover if we land Carr?

It’s not that the divisional games will be a pushover. It’s that the other teams in our division would have worse records at the end of the season than the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots.
