Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (3 Viewers)

It’s not that the divisional games will be a pushover. It’s that the other teams in our division would have worse records at the end of the season than the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots.
However, I am sure the Jets feel like Carr will give them a better shot, just as we do. My point is that Carolina and Jets have solid arguments as well, and they can offer more money. Our main argument is he has a relationship with DA.

Giving them a “better shot” than they currently have? Sure.

Giving them a better shot at winning the division and setting themselves up for a playoff run than we would have with Carr? Don’t think so.

welp, I’m not liking that Carrs visiting Ny. Apparently there was no secret deal in place. Is it possible that we already taken our best shot at him. Do we have any historical situations where we tried and failed to trade for someone and to still eventually end up with the player? I have an idea, let’s just ask ML! It’s frustrating that, we have NO FREAKING clue as to what is going on with this team 90% of the time. For comparison, the Denver Broncos Head Coach meets with the National and Local Media DAILY. We’re lucky to hear a peep out of our FO for a MONTH. WTF! Ticket Buyers have the right to know wtf is going on. Anyway, Sean Payton will be so frustrated having to meet daily with the National media. He better buy a hoodie and start practicing a mumble. lol.

Why are ppl saying one 7-10 team is a better place than another 7-10 team? Jets, really?

The owner thinks so, and he can put more money on the table than we can. It's actually a safer option than going after Rogers or Jackson, where they would lose picks.

I wonder how much choice of conference goes into his thought process.

I can’t imagine him saying in his first press conference with his new team that he picked the conference that appeared to have more bad teams so he could get to the Super Bowl more easily—even though he could be thinking it.

The Saints can't give Carr a blank check. I'm sure the circumstances of having cap issues came up, which means he may not be being offered what he thinks is fair. So he visits NY and gives himself some leverage. Unfortunately for him, the more he leverages the Saints for, the less the Saints have to get him help. It's a catch 22. A lot of things line up good for Carr coming to NOLA, but the cap situation isn't one of them. Yes we can continue to manipulate the cap, but there are limits.

I personally think he would be much happier playing in a Dome

I've been to a game in New Jersey when it was 4 degrees with the wind chill. It isn't an easy play to play QB in the winter.
If he signs with us he is guaranteed 9 games in a dome stadium plus one in Tampa every year.
His career stats will be better with us.
At the current time it will be easier to make the playoffs in the NFC South rather than the AFC East.

I doubt we out bid the Jets for him...

When he signs with a team we will see if he wants the money or does he want legacy...

I agree with others who have said we probably don’t have to match the best offer because of fit and relationships, but we also aren’t getting away with paying a huge discount to whatever market he finds out there.

The post said the Jets are a QB away.

They have an average roster in a difficult division of the toughest conference.

I just don’t think they’re a QB away from anything other than a wild card berth and losing to Cincinnati or KC in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Jets are a QB away? In what universe? They are, at best, an average team with a good defense, their offensive line is very average, their run game is terrible....among the worst in the NFL....

Don’t really care about the national media’s opinion on a team in the number-1 media market. They have some good young players. They also have some holes. Like a lot of teams. And they have a much tougher road in the AFC east.

Yup, neither do I....the Jets are a team the national media hypes at any chance, same with the Cowboys, they so want them to be relevant....but they hardly ever are.....

True, but we are probably the only ones that believe Carr is the missing piece. Sean is gone and DA is questionable. I just see how we are a favorite over Carolina or the Jets that have more flexibility.

The missing piece to what? I have zero faith in the current Saints coaching staff, I hope I'm wrong. But I fear as long as DA is our HC it really doesn't matter if Carr is here or not....we will see what happens.....

Outside of cap concerns, I fear signing Carr will limit our next coaches' options if he wants to go in a different direction.
