Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (3 Viewers)

Exactly…. Well said my friend! I have to say it… but we were never 5-2 last season.
And we’re sure that Breece Hall is going to be the same player less than a year removed from a torn ACL?

Again…I think we tend to ignore other teams’ negatives just as much as we over-emphasize our own positives and negatives. It kinda evens out.

It not only makes them a playoff team it makes them a potential division threat and a deep playoff team. You add the #4 defense, offensive rookie of the year at WR and what may have been the offensive rookie of the year at RB had he not been injured with an average QB (which Carr is) and you have the makings of a dangerous team.

I know most of us have black and gold blinders on but New York is a much better situation than we have. If the money is close, he'd be a fool not to go to the Jets.
Offensively I think we are a bit better, Our O line when healthy is a bit better. Our D was just as good as theirs but we had a bunch of injuries.
DA and DC are quite close , more than anyone on their staff.
Weather, We have a dome Carr does not do well in cold weather
Division, They have the Bills and Mia, when Tua comes back they are a tough out. and they have to go against Bill twice a yr ad they only won 1 Div game last yr.
I thnk the relationship with DA gets him here

I never disagreed with you. Considering the contract that he just lost, it is no doubt in my mind that he will try to get as close to that as he possibly could.
Yep. If his next stop goes bad, even for reasons beyond his control, this could be the last “big” contract he ever signs.

As such, he has multiple legitimate reasons to take the offer with the most guaranteed cash.

It doesn’t make him any less committed to winning or Jesus to do so.

That's my point. If he is already sold on the Saints, then going to interview with the Jets can only be with the hope of getting more money... whether the extra cash is from Jets, Saints, or any other team he goes to interview with. I was replying to the poster who said he is not all about the money. He certainly has the right to set his true current value by checking out what he can get elsewhere... even if he plans on signing with the Saints.
From his interviews, he does not seem to be all about $ and to not make at least one FA trip just to see what the market is would be stupid

While Carr sounds like a solid player, his output is so similar to Dalton I can't justify paying all that money for an extra win or two. We need to groom a young buck and stop hiring sloppy seconds
Please, Stats are not even close to the tell-all for a QB. And you can't base DC on last yrs stats, Go look at his 2020-and 21 stats and tell me he and AD are similar

^^^Agreed he's definitely not about the money...he's just trying to set the market so he can find out how much money he's going to pass up to sign with us...because he's definitely not about the money

We shouldn't be all that interested in saving his job. What does that really accomplish, get Dennis Allen a couple years worth of HC paychecks while we suffer through mediocre football 17 games a year. If he was a legendary/successful coach at one point and on a on a downturn, sure scratch-claw-bite your way to some level of success to keep him in house, but he's a bad head coach doing what bad head coaches do and we shouldn't allow him to prolong his bad head coaching career for the sake of prolonging his bad head coaching career.
Exactly. It’s like I have mostly been a proponent of using the “credit card” to play cap games while trying to close the deal on a SB with a HOF QB and coach . . . But . . .

DA has a .283 winning percentage after 53 games as an HC. It seems dumb to treat this the same.

How much is DA making? I can save Ms Gayle about 80% of that. I can get this team to their floor W-L record just as good as DA can...but without the dry personality...but then again I do have a little bit of a social Anxiety disorder so that would at least make the post game PCs a little more entertaining....for yall.

I remember saying.. the year when Raiders beat us with Carr going for 2 and the W... if Raiders ever tries to get rid of carr we should grab him..

SP probably could turn carr into near DB levels.

But he's gonna be mediocre under the staff here.

Thank you truth here. This team is closer to being bad than good. The 7 wins last year were a mirage. Most seasons a team is lucky to win four games with the lack of turnovers the defense generated, poor special team play and a woeful offense.
We really aren't though. We had terrible QB play and were in every game but the Ravens game. Terrible QB play led to a tired defense that was missing it's best corner for most of the season. Davenport played himself out of a job.

Get a more mobile QB with a better arm and it helps with our o-line and he can take advantage of Olave and Shaheed. Olave cruises to a OROY award with Carr.

Take our losses last year, remove Winston and the Red Ryder and put in Carr. Tampa is a win, Panthers hard to say cause of Kamara fumble and 2 missed kicks, Vikings is a win, Bengals would have been a win, back to back pick sixes gave the Cardinals the game, remove Dalton's 2 picks in the second half and Steelers is probably a win, maybe we compete better against the Ravens if we didn't go three and out so much but that's probably a loss, 49ers probably still beat us but doubt we get shut out, we don't blow a lead against the Bucs so that's a win and we're in the playoffs, we don't lose the final week to the Panthers.

Sometimes need to remind ourselves that the 'we' you refer to aren't the decision makers in all of this. Any talk of 'we shouldn't allow' is vastly misplaced.

Tuning in this morning, and they said no offer was made for Carr from Jets.

The NFL franchise tag window opens up tomorrow, so that should be interesting for other qbs and to see what could happen elsewhere.

I'm hoping this week or next to see what happens with the Carr situation.

I honestly think we are looking good no matter which way we could go, possibly Aaron Rodgers, a darkhorse in Lamar possibly, Carr maybe, and many other options a trade up to go all in, in the draft or even Hooker/Richardson.

Lots of options.

This offseason is huge for D.A and I think it will be a huge one.

There was a guy that threw 30 interceptions when he played for another team and 20% of the forum treated him as if he threw them while playing for us
So, in that case, should we disregard Dennis Allen’s record as a HC with the Raiders when making a judgement on him?

Of course we shouldn’t because more often than not you are what you are, regardless of the team you’re on. There’s a reason Winston is about to be released by the Saints and there hasn’t been a single whisper of any team being interested.
