Early take on how we match up next week vs. Dallas? (4 Viewers)

After seeing the offense today, I think they had a decent shot to beat the Cowboys. I think the defense will be fine since Dallas has no running game and Dak isn't a runner at his age. They are essentially one dimensional and that will allow Young and the rest of the DL to keep constant pressure which should keep them in check with the coverage we have on the back end. Dallas' OL did not look particularly good today.

But, I think the key will be whether we can run the ball. If we can, the play action will be more effective and it keeps Parsons from just firing off every play. They will likely also use some screen to keep the pass rush under control.

Strangely, my biggest concern may be whether Foster Moreau can play after his concussion. He was really good run blocking today and we are going to need that to keep the running game going. Juwan Johnson just hasn't been the blocker we will need at TE to keep the run game churning. But, maybe he has improved and it will be fine.
I believe Holker will be back and you’ll see Taysom there at times also at TE

It’s crazy to think that the next 5 games could very well determine the season, already.

Cowboys, Eagles, Falcons, Chiefs, Buccaneers

That’s crazy to me, but there’s definitely some truth in the statement
3-3 or 4-2 after 6 games isn’t bad in the NFC, especially if the Bucs and Saints are going at it for the division. Just don’t see the Saints going 1-4 or 2-3 the next five games. I see at least 3-2.

I agree but I also don't really want him taking hits. So run it and if you can't get in without trying to run someone over step out or slide and we are sitting third and goal from the 1-2. I like our odds.

I'm not trying to dog on Carr either, dude played out of his mind. He has had a really long history of red zone struggles and RZ interceptions. I think he may lead the league in redzone pics since he came into the league. The RedZone is the area he has to improve the most. If that was 4th and goal with the game on the line then fine but it was 2nd and goal. Thank god when #2 turned his head he didn't locate the ball until it was halfway to Moreau and then made a really lazy play on it. It even looked like he got distracted when the ref threw his hat to signal that the players ran out of bounds.

The other saving grace was #2 stepped out of bounds so even if he had made the interception then it is illegal touching and wouldn't have counted. No way Carr picked up on that since he already had his arm cocked when Jackson stepped out.

I can guarantee Carr, Kubiak and DA are all saying the exact same thing in film study. Thankfully it did not matter and everyone makes mistakes.

It did bring back some good memories though as it reminded me of this.

Then the Packers did it in the playoffs last year.

Just read Carr was asked why he didn’t run it and he answered, “because Foster waved his hand.” “As a QB, when a guy waves his hand, you gotta throw it”

I don’t buy it totally, saw him leave yards on field in pre-season too, but it’s def nitpicking. I’d rather him play his game and 80% completion percentage is nothing to scoff at.

And this is where we make them fear us. We are stacked on all 3 levels on defense and Our new OC is starting to scratch the surface on our weapons. I’m actually excited to see more plays for Tipton and AT Perry when he returns.

Very little. We can be 1-4 after 5 weeks and still be in good shape with the weakness of the schedule after, but there will be little room for a screw up.

Right, and Olave wasn’t targeted much today. Add those three to the mix and man!!

Yeah, but I don't think Holker is much of a blocker and he may not be back next week. As far as Taysom, I don't think he's a great blocker as an inline TE mostly due to size. He's good in motion or at FB, but not sure he is what you need in an inline TE. Plus, that would mean less snaps at RB/FB where he is such a weapon.

If you see the video, it looked like Carr was making a joke.

But he did leave some rushing yards on the field. Just not sure he's the kind of QB that is going to consistently get those. It's part of why I'm excited about Rattler in this scheme when he gets ready. Rattler will take those rushing yards.

They’ll figure it out. They’ll watch the videos and see who would need to be in for chip blocks ,etc. misdirection plays to AK and Shaheed will slow down the pressure somewhat. Let’s just see what our new OC Kubiak comes up with.

I thought that too until I looked them up. Carolina is ranked last or near last on defense out of all 32 teams to start the season.

Dallas will be many levels higher with their front 4. Carr had time today. Dallas will get there much quicker and we’ll see if Carr can handle an accelerated need to get the ball out.
Watson was forced to scramble all day long. Even when he did, he didn’t get far. Carr is not mobile. They’ll bring heavy pressure and blitzes. We need to dial up some creative runs and maybe screens, though they have backers to stop that as well. Defensively Dallas is pretty stacked.

I think it’ll be a tough but winnable game.
Our defense looks top tier, and I think Kubiak’s offense is nothing short of a game changer.

Looking forward to a fun one
Game is going to a much tougher outing without a doubt.

Cleveland has a top 10 defense and Dallas hung 33 points on them. During the regular season Dak is a top 10 QB. We got pressure on Bryce when we blitzed but not sure what will work against Dallas, we need the front 4 to get pressure.

On the offensive side of the ball its going to come down to protection. This will be the first big test of the OL against a real elite pass rusher. Things will get ugly real fast if Penning get exposed.

I am hopeful that the Saints can at least compete in this game. A win is possible but I will be happy with any outcome as long as we don't fold when playing against a playoff caliber team.
