ESPN’s Mel Kiper mocks Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart to Saints at #9 (17 Viewers)

Wait I just went back in time to see what the draft gurus said about Mahomes. Check out this gem.

Player Comparison: Derek Carr/Jay Cutler. There are a lot of comparisons for Mahomes. On NFL Network, they consistently compare Mahomes to Cutler because they are both big-armed gunslingers who have decision-making issues.

Others have compared Mahomes to Johnny Manziel, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. I can definitely see the comparison to that trio because Mahomes is like them with the ability to ad lib. All of them would take a play with nothing open, move around, and then make a big throw downfield. They also can throw from a variety of platforms. Like Rodgers and Favre, Mahomes has a big arm.

I have heard some scouts compare Mahomes to Carr, and there are a lot of similarities between the two. They both have powerful arms, mobility, accuracy and toughness. Carr also came from a college spread offense at Fresno State similar to the one that Mahomes ran at Texas Tech. Like Carr, Mahomes also grew up with pro athletes in the family. I could see Mahomes being an NFL quarterback comparable to Carr. So much of whether Mahomes pans out, however, will be determined by the team and coaching staff that drafts him. He also will have to work hard to learn his NFL offense coming from a college gimmick offense that won’t correlate well to the pros. Carr was able to overcome that issue, and the question is if Mahomes has that ability.

I'm going to puke LMAO.
Seems like he got knocked most for the system he played in and yet, so much of the game has changed to where teams are incorporating more things QB's did in college to accelerate the learning curve.

Just add spread concepts instead of forcing them to learn pro concepts. Bring them along slowly in what they are comfortable in then expand as they gain experience.

Having watched numerous games that Dart played in, IMO, He does have more upside to him than Haener or Rattler. Just don't think he's worth a first round pick.

Are there really reports the saints don’t like Dart?

I’ve just seen nothing said either way about how the saints feel about him. There’s like no known interest either way.

It's that time of the season where you can't trust 1 team or 1 official commenting on a player. Rather, you need to not only look at the collective of scout reports, collective of coaches speaking, but also have had watched that player several times to draw your own conclusion.

Let's not forget we missed out on Mahomes and Andy Reid jumped 1 pick in front of us because somehow word got out of the Saints war room how much Payton liked Mahomes.

Yes. Underhill has said today that they aren't high on him and there is nothing out there saying that they have any interest in him. That doesn't mean they couldn't change their mind or that they might not be interested in round two and later, but as of now that's how Underhill thinks things stand. He specifically said that he does not think they like him at #9.

And he has said in the past that they like Ward and even talked to the Titans about the price to move up but the cost at the time was too high. He also said that they like Sanders, but they would like him more late in the first or in the second. And Nick said NFL scouts have Dart behind Sanders.

In addition, a poster on here who has consistently given inside info, 60 Minutes, basically confirmed what Nick said about Ward and Sanders. There has been no mention of any real interest in Dart and certainly not in the first.

That could change and if the Saints decide they think Dart is worth #9 then I'm fine with the pick, but it does not seem likely.

Dart is in a different class than Haener and Rattler.

He's better than Haener, but it's close with Rattler. Dart has much more athleticism, but he doesn't have Rattler's arm and he played in Kiffin's RPO offense which is a difficult transition to the NFL. Although it is easier than it used to be.
