N/S Falcons Have Second Interview With Bill Belichick (Now Likely To Be Falcons HC) (1 Viewer)

Garopollo was a good QB who had several, productive seasons in San Francisco. Brissett showed some flashes here and there as a backup and then as a starter in Indy in 2019 after Andrew Luck's sudden, shocking retirement, but wasnt what I label a solid, Pro-Bowl QB. At best, Brissett was serviceable but nothing more.
I said decent QBs with McDaniels. He can bring more stability to the organization than they've had in a long time, and that's not to be underestimated. That's all I'm saying.

Belichick is past his prime, can't draft good players and he hasn't got Brady.

If they can somehow sign a FA QB like Cousins, depending upon how well he recovers from his injury this past season and how well he adapts or works with a promising, potentially very good offense, he could provide BB with a nice, good solid foundation for maybe 1-2 seasons, but that's all since Cousins will be 35 or 36 years at the start of next season. Cousins has been extremely fortunate wherever he's gone (Redskins, Vikings) to be surrounded by great offensive talent, weapons and in the case of Washington, he had Sean Mcvay as his OC until end of 2016 season. Bill Belichek would easily be the best, most successful HC Cousins has ever played under if he signs with Atlanta because despite all the offensive talent he had in D.C. and Minnesota, his HC's there were decent, at best. Mike Zimmer was a good HC in the Jason Garrett sort of vein but not a Mcvay, Reid, Tomlin, Shanahan sort of HC that might end up in the HOF, one day.

I don't know what the Vikings have in mind but if I was Cousins, I wouldn't be quick to move away from Kevin O'Connell.

Yep...agreed. Cousins was killing it this season and they started to hit their stride before he got hurt. If I'm Cousins, I'm retiring as a Viking..lol

It may not be left up to him. His contract ended after this year and he'll be 35 years old when next season begins and even if Minnesota does resign him to a 2-3 year contract, its the last major contract of his career, and even then, more then likely, O'Connell will be eagerly searching and looking for his eventual replacement in a top-tier draft pick either in this draft or next year's. Within a year or two, Cousins will likely be mentoring his eventual replacement if he's even allowed to stay.

If they do decide to keep him, it'll be as a starter at most for the next two seasons, at best. Maybe a third partly to help mentor his replacement. O'Connell would be a fool to put all his eggs in one basket and risk his team's season falling apart gradually after Cousins worked so hard to get them back to over .500 before he got hurt. If he hadn't gotten hurt, Minnesota probably is the 9-8, 10-7 WC team making the post-season instead of Green Bay this year.

if he get the right QB and offensive staff atlanta could be a problem. say what you will about post-brady bill but the guy knows how to run a championship operation. i understand the skepticism but i would never count him out. plus a new environment could reignite the fire for him.

If Bill takes over, I fully expect him to trade back from the #8 pick if one of the top 3 QBs aren't there and pick up an additional 2nd rounder while still picking up a QB in the 1st or early 2nd.

If Cousins don't get hurt, I have them probably winning 11-12 games and fighting for the top seed, as they already beat the 49ers.
