Falcons re-sign Stecker (Merged) (3 Viewers)

Stecker had to have known they only signed him to pick his brain.

Here is how the conversation went:

Mike Smith: "So if we sign you, anything you can tell us about the Saints will be helpful."
Stecker: "No problem, I'll tell you everything you need to know"
Mike Smith: "OK, just sign here..."
Stecker after he signs: "You're screwed, just forfeit now...where's my check?"

Why the hate for Stecker? He did more than his share for us when he was here.

one of the captains for a few seasons

played hard without recognition kind of like scott shanle

...was known as a leader on and off the field.....great person and hard working player

So he should stay unemployed out of some weird notion of loyalty? Give me a break.

For a vet with as many years as Steck, even at vet minimum the game checks must've been what, 40-50k a week? Power to him.

No, but I have every right to boo him for signing with the Clowns and laugh at him for subsequently being cut. Just like I boo'd Bobby, Mort, Joe when they went over there. Just stay out of Atlanta!!! That's how much I hate them.....and the 49'ers.

i liked secker but this is how i feel too. just stay out of the Atl or frisco.

A player looking for a job can't usually pick and choose where to go. Unless you're a highly sought after free agent, you go where you're offered a job. There's only 32 teams, there's very few opportunities. I'll boo anybody in a falcons jersey, but there's no hate for Steck.

Bingo.

Hey, if you worked for a Ford dealer for a few years, and then got laid off, would any sense of loyalty stop you from going to work for a Chevy dealer if offered a job there?

Let's keep this in perspective. We are fans of a team. To the players, this is a business ....

I don't hate Stecker. I thought he was a team player and worked hard for us. He was a role player where as guys like Ricky Jackson, Bobby, and Mort were Saint legends when they left. It felt like I was stabbed in the heart when Ricky went to play with the 49'ers. But it was the timing of Stecker signing with ATL that I was most upset about.
