For anyone who says Carr is just a stat padder and don’t win: (8 Viewers)

So we're back to making excuses again? How'd that work out after multiple years of excuses for Dennis Allen. Carr is an average QB. If we're going to do a reset, we need to reset that position as well.
They're not excuses. Simply comparing what happened to Carr to Stafford. I think Stafford is the better qb, but he didn't get a legitimate shot to win regularly until he was traded to the Rams.

Carr has never been put in a position to work with a playoff type team. Allen wasn't going to get him there, and certainly not the dysfunctional Raiders.

Personally I'd rather move on from Carr, but he's gonna be with the team at least one more season because of his contract situation.

Let’s not forget that you went to the wall - to the bitter end - for a bottom 5 HC in NFL history with the same copy and paste bullet points. Still waiting for him to become Bill Belichick.

Carr hasn’t won a playoff game in his 11 year career. At some point, you go through 11 divorces, even with ‘tough breaks’, eventually you might have to consider he might not be that dude and could be part of the problem - even it’s it’s just cap space and preventing a full scale rebuild. This roster ain’t built to support Derek Carr. He needs an elite roster chock full of pro bowlers to be more than he has been. He will not get that here. If he had that, sure he might win a playoff game. We are just not close to giving him that. At all.

We will never agree on sunshine pumping in the face of facts. But toeing the Loomis party line, playing super homer, just isn’t helping the franchise anymore.
By that same argument, Stafford went 12 seasons winning nothing to winning the SB with thr Rams. Why a different standard for two different qbs with very similar career stats through 11 seasons?

Carr wasn't gonna win with Allen because Allen is not a good HC and never has been. If Carr goes to a legitimate playoff team and craps the bed, then yeah. Until that happens,.

fork me for wanting the team to do well, right?

Why haven’t you put me on ignore already? You’ve been on mine for a year now.

I came here because, even with anonymous usernames, the discussions about the Saints tend to be held to better expectations amongst fans… but, and I am saying this publicly: you make me feel unsafe here. This is deeper than football fanhood at this point.

Feeling unsafe because someone disagrees with you… you can’t make this sheet up! Wow.

Cutting him isn't gonna save much of anything cap-wise. You keep him on another season and let him go the following offseason.

And people keep saying the team is really old when the average age is about mid pack relative to other teams. Certainly there are positions where age is an issue, but that's the case with a lot of teams.
Age is related to the good players. We have a bunch of really good CFB players that are young.

You're completely wrong on Carr. You cut him post June 1 and you eat a lot of dead money in 25 then 26 is almost completely clear.

Post June 1 = 21.5 dead. 30 MM in savings. Off in 26

Ok, so who do you replace him with? Surely we aren't going into next season with 2 relatively inexperienced QBs? And if we do sign a vet starter, those savings are gonna have to be allocated to that starter. A mid-level NFL starter is gonna cost somewhere between $20-25 million. So unless we're just deciding to downgrade the QB room, you're not really saving all that much to cut one who already can be a bridge QB until next year's draft

So, Carr will never be held responsible for his play. Got it. It's always someone else.

….which I hear a lot. This is now 0-6 without him, 12.5, 195, and -6. You’re telling me there isn’t a huge difference between being .500+ instead of 0’fer? Yeah, he’s not DB9, but who is? Thats never gonna happen again.
I think Rattler wins a few games with Hill, Kamara, Olava, Rasheed and McCoy

No but your clown arse apparently wants to make the same mistake the Raiders made and go through 5-6 more QBs with no end in sight, when you have a mid-tiered starter quality QB on the roster already in Carr.

FIFY

And while I dont think Carr is a "Franchise" QB, I 100% agree with your greater point. A steady starter quality QB is way better that QB purgatory rotating disappointing young qbs based on "potential"

Yeah I have been saying this all year long. I don’t get where all this “We are old” talk comes from.

I think it’s just psychological because we have one “Face of the team” type guy at each level of the defense in Jordan, Davis, and Mathieu, so it gives a perception that the whole roster is old.

We aren’t the only team relying on a handful of thirty something year olds in their lineup. Virtually all teams are.

Exactly…these past few seasons have been a masterclass on just how important supporting cast and coaching staff are on a QB. We have seen several QBs that were deemed busts as of late suddenly become good once they found a spot where all things aligned for them.

Stafford years ago, now Darnold, Mayfield, Geno, hell even Bryce Young has suddenly figured things out under Canales and his system.

Young’s success can MAYBE be attributed to experience, but these guys didn’t suddenly figure out how to play football again, no, they just found the right circumstances to thrive.

Carr has certainly not had that most of his career, except for that brief moment where he had prime Michael Crabtree, a young Amari Cooper and Coach Gruden on his way to finishing third in MVP voting and going to the playoffs.
