Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore... (2 Viewers)

It's a parody account.

But the fact that I've had to say this twice underscores the hard truth that parody is now dead as it can never seem more stupid or unbelievable than reality.
its not that parady is dead, its the fact that there are so many dumb people in this country say things like this so often and believe it.
I can guarantee if i showed that to a certain co worker of mine, she would 100% believe it.

I remember the good old days when you saw those magazines by the checkout at the grocery store, you just knew they were fake and and we all laughed about stuff like Bat Boy and my husband was reincarnated as my parrot stories. Now people post those stories on Twitter and Facebook and the dumbest among us think its true...

Just remember, when CEOs talk about impact, they are reassuring shareholders, not consumers.

Pete is likely talking about consumers and the local economy taking a hit.

I saw this morning that JP Morgan Chase is saying that it will be a local disruption/problem for the Baltimore economy but that it should not be a big issue for the broader economy/supply chain. The biggest issue is cars as Baltimore is the largest port for car imports, but most imported cars are apparently driven over the Canadian and Mexican borders. Plus, the other East Coast ports have the capacity to handle the traffic that would have gone to Baltimore.

Obviously Chase has some interest in making things sound good, but their explanations sound reasonable.

Unfortunately I think it's a real conspiracy believer after going through a lot of that person's posts. Makes me furious how many followers these types of people have on twitter, instagram, youtube, etc... - and the monetization structure that facilitates this type of "career" path.

It's also going to be a headache for a long time traffic wide

said on the news that over 31K cars went over the bridge every day

also a problem for trucks that are either too big for tunnels or carrying hazardous materials that aren't supposed to use tunnels

The guy's name is Dale Heartland and his username is Boomer something or other. It's supposed to be a parody of flyover country boomers on social media, but it is impossible to distinguish a parody of them from the reality of them at this point.

good to know. how many crazies shared that and believed it?
I already had a co worker mention it was gov't conspiracy. she doesn't know why, but it just is..lol
My boss immediately blamed it on a prominent politician because he wants to destroy the coal industry.

I don't know how any of that ties in

I heard that the port is a major shipper of export coal mostly to India. Those trains of coal and the carriers will likely be diverted to Somewhere like Norfolk.

A very good friend of mine works for the Federal Government. He said that it will take years for this bridge to be rebuilt and ready to go. Now, the Army corps of engineers could come in and make a temporary bridge because of all the traffic in the area. This is going to be a logistical nightmare for a long time as this is a main artery for Baltimore traffic. This bridge saw thousands and thousands of cars and trucks on a daily basis. If this were to have happened during the day, it would be a whole different story.

Which brings up a main point. The first responders are to get a massive THANK YOU!!! Once the ship sent out it's distress call, they jumped into action and sealed off traffic from going over the bridge. While one loss of life is horrible, they saved countless lives. There was a tractor trailer that went over minutes before the ship collided with the bridge.

It is worth noting that thousands of folks are ready to help. Here in our little town of Salisbury, first responders here were on the ready and even though it will never happen, Salisbury Port extended their help in any way possible. Baltimore is one of the biggest importers for Mercedes Benz so the could pull into surrounding smaller ports and then trailer them to their destinations.

Either way, the loss of life is awful and this is going to snarl Baltimore for a long time.

If there's a 'silver lining' to this it's that it happened at 1 in the morning

This happens during rush hour and we're probably looking at dozens if not hundreds dead

Or barged to New Orleans, which is the other main export port for coal.
