Haener film looks better than Young. (1 Viewer)

John Madden once said if you can throw the 15 yd out,you can play in the NFL. I also remember a interview from
former Titans GM Floyd Reese. He told Jim Rome the reason Danny Wuerffel wasn't on his draft board was he
couldn't throw that pass.
That and/or the corner route is a key route. Dalton was 1 of 10 throwing the corner, and was also 1 of 10 throwing the fade. We couldn’t complete passes deep and outside. And people wonder why our offense was so bad.

I don't know if he's consistent, but there's video out there of Haener throwing dimes on deep sideline and corner routes.

When the QB is accurate, at least 1 receiver is always open, and Haener seems accurate with all the throws. You can't teach accuracy, but everything else is teachable.

He has a lightning-fast release and seems to be a fast processor. I've seen him doing the Joey Burrow thing where he's running for his life then accurately throwing to someone who flashed open down the sideline

Don't know if he can transition, but he has 2-3 very good NFL tools to work with. I have a feeling he has been obsessively studying the Pro game for years, and nothing in the NFL will take him by surprise. I think he will make pre-season a little more fun than usual.

Haener is 2" taller and 6lbs heavier than Young
Did you double it? He is 1 inch taller and 3 pounds heavier at the combine. I hope you are not relying on the 6'1" the Saints have him listed at (although they have him listed at 200 instead of 207). Local reporters laughed at that during OTAs. Many thought he was 5'10 or less. He was 5'11.5" at the combine.

I’m not sure if he has the arm strength for the deep out or corner. Throwing the fade is easier because you’re getting the ball over a defender who isn’t looking versus threading the needle past a defender who is. Dalton lacked the arm to make either throw consistently last year.

This throw from Haener’s highlight reel a few posts up would probably get picked in the NFL. He may have better examples of making this throw with more velocity, but compare the ball speed to any of Carr’s similar throws from last year.

That would make Young 5'10, and I don't think he's that tall.

That would also make Haener weigh about 180. He's a little pudgy around the middle, so I'm thinking around 200.

You can't coach arm strength. I do agree accuracy is more important, but a certain level of arm strength is needed. I'm
like most here. Let's see how he does against NFL caliber secondaries before we pass judgement.

Combine -

Young - 5'10 1/8" 204 / hand 9 3/4, arm 30 1/2
Haener - 5'11 5/8" 207 / hand 9 3/8, arm 29 3/4

So, their build is roughly the same.

ESPN has him at 6' 200lbs and Young at 5'10 194lbs

I disagree that it would be a pick in the NFL the pass is perfectly thrown to the outside over his shoulder hitting the WR in stride, and that's a 30+yrd out to the far hash. While I'll agree that JH does not have a rocket arm but he can make all the throws. At the senior bowl Curry was the OC so he saw Haener up close and worked with him. If his arm strength was a problem we would not have drafted him

all you have to do is go back and read about how a lot of people thought Steve Walsh looked better than Troy Aikmen.. we all know that ended..
