Haener starts vs Commanders: 1 INT, 5 punts ; Rattler replaced Haener in 2H: led to 19 points (6 Viewers)

“I” think Rattler has more pure talent than Haener… and seeing Haener on the field.. he looks like a smaller, less talented Bryce Young with less mobility.

Haener is bigger than Rattler who is bigger than Bryce Young.

I’m trying to interpret this post. Specifically the ‘then’ Broncos, Chargers, and Bucs.

It’s mid-December and those are 3 playoff teams if the dance started today. Were they not playoff worthy teams when we faced them?
What I'm saying is that Wash is a better team now than any of those teams were when we played them with SR @ QB so Haener's test will be harder than SR's was when he started

It's really more about how the teams were playing at the time we played them. Timing matters. The Rams are a far, far better team now than they were 3 or 4 games into the season. And part of the reason is they got their playmakers back.

The bottom line is both QBs are at a disadvantage because of our injury situation. All I see in the comparison between the 2 is that SR has a stronger arm. SR has about 10 lbs on JH but is an inch shorter. But I think JH is more poised in the pocket and has better accuracy and anticipation in his throws which fits Kubiak's system better. I think JH's decision making is better than SR's. SR like most QBs with a strong arm will try to fit a pass where it may be ill-advised, the advantage is that sometime he'll get away with it

People that have already decided what the ceiling for both these QBs are just ridiculous. You don't know no one does , especially this early in their careers. You probably would have said the same thing about Darnold , Purdy,Geno Smith, and a lot of QBs that would go on to out perform what was said about them.

I'd be doing that look more from our starting WRs than at either of the QBs
I don’t disagree.

I’m in the minority in that I believe Haener is a better QB than Rattler. I also think that neither will ever be successful starters in the league. If one does happen to make it, I think it will be Jake.

Zero belief in Rattler.

Pre snap reads and getting the ball out quickly is exactly how it works.
Pre snap reads are fine but just firing the ball within 3 seconds at the 1st WR/TE/RB that you think is coming free is great but if you hold the ball a little longer sometimes and work up in the pocket you might find a better option downfield is all Elvis is talking about.

Yes, not taking a sack is great. Going to your 1st read often and early not so much. Jake does that at times and DBs will jump those routes. Rattler does the opposite and tries to over extend the play at times and make something out of nothing.

So no, it’s not as simple as 1-2-3 pass. It depends on what the play is. Are we in shotgun (probably), are we under center, is it a 3/5/7 step drop back? There are tons of things (mostly protection and experience) that determines the QBs time of release from snap to pass.

Very few QBs could study film like Drew, TB12, Peyton Manning. Those guys knew before they broke the huddle 80% of the time what the defensive alignment would be and the coverage. All they had to do was set protections. Remember now though in Kubiacks west coast offense the center calls the protections not the QBs.

With both Jake and Spencer it’s really just about getting more game day reps against different opponents and doing film study/homework and knowing our playbook inside and out. That takes time and talent.

Drew was rare, HOF rare so I’m not expecting these young lads to perform anywhere near where Drew would. Even with our offensive line injuries, and WR injuries I think that if Drew were in his prime he’d still be able to generate drives and points. He was just that good. Carr is well, middle of the pack at best, he’s never been known as a QB that can breakdown a defense like the top tier QBs or take over with his legs. He can make all the passes when given the time in a clean pocket but he is what he is. I personally don’t think that we have our next franchise QB on our roster, and that’s not bashing our group. They just have a ceiling that isn’t as high as it needs to be to consistently perform and win at a high level imo.

He has no idea.

People act like Rattler was a 2nd round pick instead of a 5th just because he’s a running QB.
Some people want to blame the OL but he fumbled twice on the same play in embarrassing fashion, threw terrible INTs and just made bad decisions countless times. Yes the OL was bad and gave him some pressure, but even with a clean pocket he still made terrible decisions.
He needs more time in this league, but the first impression wasn't good.

I know he's our best WR, but he shouldn't be playing this game anymore. He should take the money he's made and live a long healthy life.
I prefer Shaheed, but I'm pulling for both.

I'm not sold on Carr being the guy who could take us to a SuperBowl in the future, even if we were loaded at every position.

I would prefer for us to start a new QB next year.

Unfortunately, I don't see Haener or Rattler as the answer either.

It's kind of depressing knowing we don't currently have an answer on the roster.
