Haener starts vs Commanders: 1 INT, 5 punts ; Rattler replaced Haener in 2H: led to 19 points (6 Viewers)

The Brooks vs. Delhomme war was over the top crazy. People totally dug in. Much worse than we have seen since.
The real issue with the divide was that Aaron Brooks had a separated throwing shoulder and it clearly impacted his play in season where a single win in our final three games - against three very winnable opponents - would have secured a playoff spot.

Keep in mind that we’d swept the eventual Super Bowl champion Bucs that season, so the playoffs would have been full of possibilities.

Haslett trotted out a diminished Brooks and we laid horrid eggs in the final two games and 9-4 became 9-7 and no playoffs.

Delhomme, realizing that he clearly had no shot at playing here - departed for a division rival and immediately took them to the Super Bowl in 03’.

So the Brooks/Delhomme divide was with good reason. There was no reasonable excuse why Delhomme didn’t play those final two games in 02’.

I figured. I somewhat remember people being really frustrated on both sides, it's just not as fresh to me as what we have recently experienced as a fan base.

For a young QB who said he wanted to mimic Drew Brees, he sure didn't study Drew's mechanics very much...

His low arm and elbow slot are the main reasons he doesn't have a strong arm...

Hopefully he does well!

Correct, I agree with his draft profile in regards to that. Above average arm strength, but its definitely not good or elite. I think here he is creating a different arm angle to get the ball through traffic. Which according to his profile that is one of his positive traits.

If you read the negatives on both sites, those things must get cleaned up because most of them are catastrophic.

I doubt we have our future QB on the roster, but it would be nice if it ends up happening.

There is. It's called a bad coach. There's a very good reason Haslett didn't get another HC coach job.

Yeah I agree. People who throw like that are really horrible quarterback. Can't win games throwing like that. I bet those quarterbacks never won a Super Bowl with those type of throws. What's wrong with Heaner?

All true, but not to open this can of worms again, I think it was also true that when healthy Brooks was the better QB. So while Delhomme should have started those games, many were dug in on Delhomme as being the better QB long before that happened and continued to hold that position for years and cheer for him even while he was the QB of a division rival. And it was all made worse because Delhomme was from the Lafayette area and Brooks was from the inner city in Virginia. There was very much so a Delhomme is one of us and Brooks is not tone to the constant debate.

One QB never grew and was all Talent, the other QB grew and developed into a better QB because talent only gets you so far. I played with and have known plenty of people that rely on only talent and never have the discipline to hone their craft and become the greatest... hell it's why we don't even think about Shaq as the greatest player all time. He could have been if he had the drive of MJ and Kobe.... but he got by on talent alone. Now he cries that no one every talks about him when they talk about the best ever.

As for cheering for Jake in Carolina, those people aren't Saints fans and nothing they can do or say will change that. The only Panty you could "cheer" for is Sam Mills and you didn't cheer for him, you were just sad he is now the enemy.

Haener gives Purdy vibes but without the wins under his belt. This is as good a chance as any to see if he can indeed win some. For reasons far outside of Haener's skill set, I don't think we win but one more game this season....but let us wait and see.

We don’t need him to win the game. We need him to not lose it. If we win, it will be due to either a stellar Kamara or defensive performance.

Haener give Colt McCoy vibes. I think that's about his ceiling, but I like McCoy.

Haener can throw from different angles, this happens to be one of them.
