Head Coaching Candidates for 2025 (2 Viewers)

Aaron Glenn
He played for us. He’s coached here before. He’s essentially “one of us”. He has knowledge on how to stop a SP type offense and and new age Ben Johnson type offense. Players love him and he has earned a HC position. He was a pretty good player, so that resonates with this new era of players
I think Aaron Glenn has done a nice job as a DC. This is a situation similar to DA that I think he's a #2 not a HC candidate.

The NFLPA polls are just a popularity contest. Like the one that had us last in food
I gotcha but the good food in the cafeteria doesn’t coach. The players have a fonder place in their heart for AG than they do for any other coach and that’s just not Lions players. Hell I’m sure AG got more votes than DA did from our roster 2 years ago

Sorry Gayle was not the driving force, the apathy of the coaching staff and losing your 7 straight game when you win the turnover margin and out gain your opponent by +150 yards was the driving force. Teams with that stat line were 275-0 until Sunday.

Does anyone that’s serious about seeing us a contenders 5-6 years truly not understand that Gayle has to get rid of the guy that’s been telling everyone that DA is the right guy? That Haslett was the right guy? That has signed off on backloaded deals to put us not in cap purgatory but cap hell?

Gayle just needs to hire a consulting firm to tell her what we know, upper management is one of if not the biggest issue with the erosion of a winning culture based on complacency and incompetence.
Except she was. Underhill and people that post here in the know confirmed it. With as bad as all the stats you posted were, Loomis was still going to keep Allen until at least the end of the season. Hell Loomis was still making excuses for Allen in his media comments. Gayle forced him to fire Allen mid-season.

Read what I said again and you'll see I was agreeing with you that Loomis needs to go. It'd be great if happened in the off-season but I don't see Gayle making that move even though he's been extremely reckless with the franchise and her money. She can't be happy with having to do all the leg work and talking to the players about what's wrong while Loomis sat on his hands. So who knows, she did the right thing with Allen, maybe she's saving Loomis firing until the end of the season.

I’d like to move away from the defensive head coach model. I do like Glenn, just prefer the offensive head coach /wunderkind type philosophy, assuming we find the right guy.

Also, assuming your team is good, you want your coordinators to be coveted, and I’d prefer the DC slot to be the potential revolving door rather than offense.

I can see that. The only thing that makes me pause on Glenn is that he was here with SP. A part of me wants this organization to wash their hands of that era completely

I don’t like this but thought I would share.

No I understand what you’re saying. My bad, what I was attempting to say was that the driving force behind her or anybody’s decision like that is poor performance topped off with a loss like that.

We see eye to eye on ML definitely

Can't believe Curt Cignetti hasn't been mentioned yet. Coached JMU to a bowl game in their first year in the FBS when they weren't even eligible yet, and Indiana is likely a CFB playoff team this year.

Dude just wins no matter where he goes.
