Hiring Moore = Ashton Jeanty as 1st rd pick? (32 Viewers)

Carter will be LONG gone. Don’t even give yourself that fantasy.
I saw one mock draft where Carter is going at 8. That's just one pick below the Saints. Anything could happen at the 9th position. To say he will be long gone is a stretch.

Could drafting an RB be the equiv of getting one on a cheap deal? I think wha'ts fun about his run game is he mixes up the looks, we may already have the line to make his run game effective, and since attacking downfield seems to be more calculated than an offensive philosophy it may not require much tweaking at the OT position. Almost seems like more read option w/ someone like Rattler and Kamara/Miller would make RB/TE a premium.

Jeanty/Warren or maybe you go Warren/Hampton etc then spend the other picks on defense.

I'm all for a great running game and there are situations where Jeanty makes sense at #9. But, I'm not sure Rattler is really a guy you want running the Read Option. He's more athletic in the Mahomes mode rather than a guy that can really run like Hurts.

Anyway, if Jeanty is BPA then you take him or trade down, but I don't see why people are so dead set on him as BPA at #9. Lots of testing and evaluations left before boards are stacked. And we don't even know who our HC is or what system will be run on either side of the ball so that can change how the board is stacked for the Saints.

I don't have much concern about Jeanty's speed. If he runs, I think he'll be low 4.4s. He seems plenty fast on the highlight reel.

My concern is I don't see the same "make you miss in a phone booth" shiftiness that you see with Saquon or Bijan. But I have to study up a lot more.
As you watch Jeanty highlights, just pay attention to the competition he's playing against. And also, notice how numerous times he gets caught and tackled from behind.

I would personally love Jeanty if they want to strap the offense to he and Kamara.

But, I think Moore may see Saquon as 1 of 1 and see the true catalyst behind what has helped him be a better OC in Philly as that OL. If he’s the hire, it wouldn’t surprise me if a somewhat surprising Tyler Booker pick comes in. I think he’s the best IOL prospect since Quentin Nelson.
drool... :D

I'll keep an eye out for it.

Yes, anything could happen (in theory). But I have no confidence in Abdul Carter being available outside of the top 4. He just looks different from everyone else, and his on-field production confirms it.

I concur, and he's also got questions about his decision making and running the read option requires that. On the flip side, Mahomes did quite a few things w/ his legs in that championship game on designed runs. 4.5 speed isn't needed to chew up yards when the play design is good.

I also don't agree that Jeanty is a slam dunk in all offenses...my biggest question w/ him is how good would he be in pass protection at his size/stature? I'm more of a Omarion Hampton guy in that regard.

Does Kellen Moore like the run first offense of Philadelphia or did he just work with what players he had? Is he a capable enough Offensive coach to change his scheme dependent upon his players? Was He a run heavy play caller in Dallas?
I with the ones saying Moore being heavy on the run in Philly is due to the roster make up. Hurts doesnt stand in the pocket and pick you apart. He's an escape artist with the wheels to burn you. Having a QB with that skillset, an elite RB, and an elite OL... a run heavy offense is a no-brainer. Same story in Baltimore. It does show that Moore isnt one of those single-minded coaches that doesnt maimize the strengths of his players. Thats a plus.

As far as Jeanty at #9. Thats a bit of a stretch to me, but there is the Boise state connection. I guess that depends on how he wants to build his offense and how he feels about what AK is at this point in his career. It makes sense to have a superstar on the roster ready to take the place of an aging and expensive superstar.

I do wonder what kind of QB Moore would want. He's had Dak and Herbert, but Hurts brought him to the Superbowl. Does he try and find a read-option type QB? If so, is there a QB in this draft somewhere that fits that type system? Or does he revert to more of a pass happy offense?

With the way the coaches have played out I think that loss to move us to #9 is gonna be huge. If we want jeanty fine, take him. If we don’t I can see Ben Johnson wanting him in Chicago because that Detroit offense thrived with those 2 RBs. Dallas will know that and if they want jeanty they will have to trade up to where we are, ahead of Chicago. So I think the option to trade back and pick up picks will be there as well. Dallas isn’t that far back, if we trade with them we can still get a high impact player and more.

They won't get Jeanty because they are no match for other team's aggressiveness with drafting or bringing in playmakers. If Sean Payton wants Jeanty, he's a Bronco no matter what.

The Saints have zero offensive identity outside of their medical room, and the receiver alumni airing grievances. The Saints do not score points and last I checked, unless you have an elite defense, it's not a good gameplan to not score points.

Enough with the poverty of lack of playmaking talent. Go draft the playmakers, then you are forced to build the roster to support their success.

I'm pretty confident he will be the first non-QB off the board... yes, even ahead of Travis Hunter

Jeanty on the broncos would be devastating

History provides some insight.

2019 Moore named OC of Dallas - drafted Tony Pollard with Elliot on roster
2023 Moore named OC of Chargers - Already had Austin Ekeler on roster
2024 Moore named OC of Eagles - Let's Swift walk and was a major voice in acquiring Barkley

It stands to reason that Jeanty is absolutely being eyeballed at 1.9, especially since Kamara is going to start the season at age 30. But it doesn't mean he will. Its possible there's another RB later in the draft he covets. But histories indicates there's a likely hood that we come out of the draft with another RB.
