Hot Takes Welcome (Post Raiders Loss) (1 Viewer)

I honestly think he’s on the spectrum and makes some boneheaded decisions almost every game.
My hot take is I knew who the Saints were since the Denver game.

My hotter take - I like a good joke now and then, but when I read something like this as a parent with a kid who's "on the spectrum" it cries out as a chance to educate someone with an open heart. I'd be happy to have a discussion about this as a....subject matter expert of 15 years experience. I hear things like this all the time IRL and have had some really great experiences helping people understand what it means. If you DO know what it means, and you posted that I'd humbly ask that you do better and be more aware. When you post/say something like that, all someone who actually has a kid "on the spectrum" sees is their own child that you just offhandedly made fun of, you know?
Didn’t say he’s stupid bc he’s on the spectrum. Said he’s not intelligent and then said I think he might be on the spectrum. You realize there’s more to the spectrum than autism huh?
Bro, just stop right now. There is no winning. You were wrong to use that reference.

Umm. Someone is on the spectrum means they are on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Think of spectrum as a wide range.

Mark Sanchez said it best. A full offseason in an NFL program could do wonders for Rattlers development. Still think he’s a “see what we have in year 3” kind of guy.

The talent is there but

A. Decision making needs to improve
B. Bad footwork and habits lead to spotty Ball location and high throws.
C. Pre-Snap recognition and having answers for the blitz. That may be more scheme than him.
D. Needs to learn to put touch on his passes.
These are all pretty significant things he needs to improve upon to be a viable NFL QB.

How many truly successfully NFL QBs had that many things to improve upon going into their first offseason? Not being snarky, just seriously curious.

Also, it’s important to consider that Rattler probably won’t be getting a full offseason as the prohibitive starter as he’ll be behind Carr again.

My hot take is that I didn’t see much out of Rattler that made me feel optimistic this season. Everything I’ve seen of him (taking the whole season into account) has been pretty average to slightly below average. He’s got a live arm, which is nice but it doesn’t seem like there’s much else there to get excited about.

I keep seeing all the posts about his huge upside and I just keep trying to see it - and don’t. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m too old and out of touch with todays NFL.

I too have no clue what folks see in Rattler, besides the arm. He has zero else going for him. Same story it’s been with him thru his whole college career.

lol you want all that in one offseason?

and do we currently have an "NFL program"??? Do we get one cleaning house? Bringing in fresh ideas and philosophy?

So many things to address and one offseason isn't going to right this listing ship. too many holes to plug. Im fine with Rattler being the bridge because we have seen his ceiling. I would be happy to be wrong, but I don't think his game will improve to become a true franchise QB.

first thing first - address the front office and coaching. Admit that we have some rough days ahead, gotta clean up the cap, get the right coaching and players in here and work toward becoming competitive. Next would be conditioning. These young men need to take ( or be held ) accountability for what they do/don't do to get right for the 17 game season.

Yes, talent is there, but is it just arm talent?
All the things you mentioned are things that have been SR's issues his whole career and the main reason he lasted till the 5th rd. A,B,C and D are the things that separate a Brees from a JaMarcus Russell

These are all fundamental things. Things that he should have mastered ( or at least improved on ) in college.
How do you change his "decision making "? I mean, it's innate. he has played football for 80% of his life, and developed his game as it fit him. Now we have to figure a way to change his natural response/habit?
I don't see it either

Yeah, that’s pretty much where I was too with it. He’s just not the guy.

I was at the game today...

Drew Brees never played on a team as bad as this one!

Rattler had 4 passes dropped on each possession to start the 2nd half...
The OL apparently sent out dummy clones & they stayed in the locker room after halftime.
No one blocked in the 2nd half...

Our D can't rush the passer...can't tackle any ball carrier...can't cover any WR, TE, or RB...
Our D is horrendous...

A rookie QB is the least of our problems!

I respectfully disagree on Rattler. I think he can be a good starting QB with an offensive line and some weapons. The guy is playing with absolutely nothing, so I refuse to throw in the towel on him.
That can't be the panacea for the mistakes SR is making. He is making bad decisions when things are there for him. His touch is awful, way too much on the ball a lot of times. Yes he'll make some really good throws but he has overconfidence in his arm a lot. His issues are the same that have been there his whole career and why he lasted till the 5th rd. While he may be able to overcome these issues it will take a very good QB coach or OC to do it.

Luckily for us most of our problems are about the same. Even if one is the least of all. The team is a literal dumpster fire…the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Ditka days.

I’m not holding 05 against them because of Katrina.
