If Jayden Daniels declares we need to draft him. (2 Viewers)

He's built too lightly for full Taysom duty. Instead of TE he could play any WR spot.

Daniels is a beast, has wheels, all the throws, looking more and more like a top-10 pick, will be too valuable to play other roles.

Other LSU offensive players are also the real deal: Malik Nabers is probably in top 5 WRs, what a little baller. Mason Taylor will probably go top 3-4 in the TE group, and RB Logan Diggs is a solid, every-down RB.

After the top 2 QBs I have questions about the rest being NFL QBs, Daniels is his accuracy. He doesn't have to throw into tight windows because he can run. It won't be the same in the pros. I wouldn't be against drafting him, he's got the mental and attitude make up to succeed, on top of the physical tools.
I don't question his accuracy, dude drops dimes. He doesn't throw into tight windows because he doesn't have to. Forcing the ball when you don't have to would be idiotic. Judge his accuracy on the passes he makes, not the ones he doesn't make.

He's also processing the field so much faster than he was a year ago. He's also so much more composed in the pocket and under pressure. Jayden's floor is much higher than a year ago and he uses his athletic ability to extend plays for more than just running. His ceiling is so high that he could make a lot of teams regret not jumping on him.

I think Penix is the best QB in the draft. His arm gives me chills. The way that ball just explodes out his hands with a perfect spiral and insane accuracy. He will thread the needle into tight coverage and rarely misses. Penix reminds me of a left handed Dan Marino or Warren Moon. It's such a rare arm talent on a frame that is perfectly suited for the NFL. He is very athletic but rarely displays the athletic ability because his arm is just that elite. I haven't seen the arm talent with the accuracy that he displays coming out in a long time. I'm not sure his arm is as strong as Josh Allen but it is close and he is light years ahead of where Allen was as a QB.

I would be so jacked if they picked him next year.
Dude is a winner.

Who does Penix play for?
I've been busy and haven't kept up with college ball this year, obviously.

He's a talented player. But I predict he'd be injured half the time. His frame is so slight (comparable to Bryce Young), but he'd probably take more hits than Bryce.

I don't think he projects to the NFL well. Hard pass on Daniels in the first round.

All that comes to mind...

What a bunch of "Homer's" looking through their rose colored glasses!

My opinion of him hasn't really changed a lot. His game right now doesn't translate well to the NFL, he wouldn't make it to game 5 of the season running the way he does.....

He still seems to be a bit of a "streaky" thrower....but he is a great, great college QB....still has a lot to work on/improve from an NFL perspective IMO....

I'm going to try to answer this politely, so please take it as genuine response to the idea you've raised. Also note I have no issue with the player or their ability, just the idea you've come up with about PFF numbers.

Scouts look at a wide range of information, but this tends to focus on physical attributes/testing through BLESTO or similar, medical history, their intangibles around leadership attitude etc. through talking to their coaches and others in the programme, but most of all they focus on how they perform on film. How they perform in the good games and the bad games, in adversity as well as in highlight reel mode.

The idea that they rely in any meaningful way on someone else's idea of performance analysis, that's been wrapped up into pretty numbers to sell to a fanbase audience is hard to take seriously.

So no, PFF numbers don't equal draft stock. Which is why his PFF numbers don't equate to his draft stock. Fairly QED.
You didn’t answer the question of how you know what you’re claiming. You made a claim without evidence of your inside knowledge.

You’re now claiming that scouts do not use any data analysis and instead only look at film at physical attributes.

Are you so sure?

Then you haven't been watching him play all year. He been making window throws all season.

I love Daniels and have been watching all season. He has displayed great accuracy on comebacks, hitting guys open over the middle in zone and throwing the deep ball. When he throws over the middle into zone it really isn't into tight windows. That just isn't who he is and not what the offense is designed to do. His style is to drop back, make 2 reads and extend if guys aren't open. His running ability is too good to be throwing high risk passes. His accuracy and arm strength suggests he has this ability. I do think he'll be forced to start making some of these passes down the stretch against teams like Bama. In the 2nd half against FSU he needed to try to hit passes in windows but froze and became a sack machine. That could very well be what his NFL career looks like or he could be that guy and just need some games with a coaching staff that encourages him to take more risk because in the NFL, you have to.

JD is much more in the Lamar Jackson skillset and his ability to stay healthy in the NFL is certainly a valid question. I think you have to let him run and take your chances at the next level and hope that he keeps progressing in the pocket so he can transition to becoming more passer and less runner. I'm not a fan of that style QB in the NFL but we are seeing it start to work more often than in the past.
