If Jeanty, T-McMillan and Will Johnson are on the board at #9, who are you taking? (13 Viewers)

Who would you pick if Will Johnson, Ashton Jeanty and Tet McMillan are all available at #9?

Jeanty. Derek Carr if QB1 doesn't need to pass for more than 20 times a game.

Same with Rattler. Keep the game plan simple and run the ball.

But I want an Olineman

Exactly. Considering Carr shouldn't throw more than 20 times a game and Rattler (IMO) shouldn't throw more than 15, how many of those passes will be 5 yards or less?

Tet wouldn't (or shouldn't) get more then 3 or so targets a game. The value just isn't there. If we get him fans will cry "why aren't you throwing to tet more!?" and the reasoning is simple. Our QB's suck and even if they didn't we're still a run first team.

Tet feels like a wasted top 10 pick for someone over near the sidelines blocking more than half the game.

If the Saints were playing for 2025 I’d agree. But they shouldn’t be. The Saints aren’t ready to contend with teams like the Eagles right now. Tet would very likely outlive Carr and Rattler.

I think Jeanty is my top pick with Tetairoa also being a pick that I'd leave the draft happy with. Both of those players check a ton of boxes. The difference for me is Jeanty is basically the best RB in any draft class. Tetairoa likely isn't the top WR in many recent draft classes. In other words, Jeanty is a true top tier "blue chip" prospect, while Tetairoa is a "good" prospect. Both players would provide a boost for us. Jeanty seems more likely to be a true "elite" player in the NFL. In this draft I see 3 true blue chip players in Jeanty, Carter, and Hunter. After that there's certainly some quality prospects, but not quite at that level imo.

I'm not convinced that the difference between Tetairoa and guys like Tre Harris/Jayden Higgins is that big. I think there's a decent chance we could grab one of those 2 WR's at pick 40. I do think the difference between Jeanty and the next tier of RB's is pretty sizeable. If we were to miss out on Jeanty I think there's plenty of 2nd tier guys (Hampton, Henderson, Skattebo, Judkins, Neal, etc.) that could be had in the 2nd/3rd/4th round that could be solid RB options, but just don't strike me as "special" talents at RB.

I really want no part of Will Johnson. He has speed concerns at CB, and he appears to be injury prone. I'd rather see what we have in Kool-Aid, and Taylor. Or even see if a quality CB is available on day 2 that slid down the draft.

You articulated what I was thinking when comparing Tet vs Jeanty very well. Unfortunately, I don't think Jeanty will make it out of the top 5 (I don't see him lasting pass pick 4 when Vrabel picks). So if we want him, we'll have to trade up which means we'd likely have to give up our 2nd rounder. I really hope if we do trade up, we don't touch next years draft picks.

I'm not even discounting the Browns who lost Chubb and are desperate for a franchise RB as much as they are desperate for a franchise QB. Same goes with the Giants who's offense suffered incredibly so after losing Barkley. You can say they need a QB, but if we can look at the QB's in this draft and realize they're not very good, then certainly the professionals can.

Point being, I think Jeanty is completely off the table for us unless we want to scrap the idea of ever finding a franchise QB in the draft in next years draft and attempt to run a franchise with mediocre/bad QB's for a few years.

Because of this I'm hopeful we can get Warren then maybe Skattebo in the 2nd.

It certainly is possible that he goes before we even have a chance. I don't really want to trade up for him as that will take away valuable resources that we need.

I'll say that the Browns need a QB and either Ward or Sanders will be available when they pick. They also will have a chance at Hunter or Carter. I don't see them being in on Jeanty. Day 2 I certainly I could definitely see them grabbing a RB.

Patriots just drafted Drake Maye last year. He has no receiving weapons and a questionable OL. I see them protecting/helping Maye with an OL or a guy like Hunter/Tetairoa (even if it's a bit of a reach).

I think the Jaguars and Raiders are our biggest obstacles as it seems hard to predict what direction they will go. I'm pretty confident that Jeanty, Mcmillan, or Warren will be available at pick #9. I think any of those 3 provides us with a solid boost on offense. I just think Jeanty is the best of the bunch.

Even out of those 3, i would prefer they take a OL or DL at pick 9. I really want Warren but there are quality TEs that could be drafted on day 2

I don't think Jeanty will make it till the 9th pick and could see the Raiders taking him. I'm going all in for the TE Warren but would be okay if the Saints take Tetairoa McMillan. The Saints have mega holes to fill, Very important draft coming up for the organization.

How many touches do you see Jeanty getting over Kamara?
Basically your saying AK days are done in NOLA if we draft Jeanty...

I would be utterly surprised if Vrabel took Tet or Campbell. Campbell just isn't worth it at all when Jeanty is on the board, and everytime he's a head coach his offenses are run, run and run some more. With the Titans he had Derrick Henry. Now he has no one. Stevenson has been beat up and struggles. Vrabel is a bit desperate for a RB that can carry the rock and run people over play after play, game after game. I just can't imagine in what world he passes up on Jeanty who would take a load of pressure off of Drake Maye the same way Henry took pressure off of Tannehill and can carry his offense while his defense wins games, the same way he setup the Titans to win.

I don’t think that there is an elite player available at those trench position at will be available. I’m tired of the Saints reach on trench guys who we are looking to replace in a few years…it’s an endless cycle. This team is void of elite talent…and the little bit it has is either upon retirement or injury prone.

Time will tell, I simply don't see that happening. I'm sticking with Hunter/Tet or an OL to protect the future of their franchise.
