[Instagram clickbait post with no @ source] on why the Saints HC job is very unwanted currently. [mod edit] (9 Viewers)

This is the first time I've heard this. I did a search and couldn't find a single mention of this. That doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Do you remember where you saw it reported that Payton said Gayle was a weak owner?

I remember Payton suggesting that the Denver owners had a lot more financial clout, so he felt like the biased refereeing against him would end. That is not the same thing as saying Gayle is a weak owner.
He didn't say she was a weak owner, it was inferred by him referring to the owners of the Broncos being strong owners. Not everything is a slap at the team but some people take what Sean says about the team and spins it that way.

That's what I remember too and it was directly related to the bad officiating that Payton had to deal with at the Saints.

Wow, this is dire. Situation is unwinnable. Team should give up.

Last time our HC job was this bad we had to clean house and hire the QB coach from Dallas.

Bleak indeed.

I’m guessing the Moore did not get on the plane back to NOLA? Loomis tried. On to M.M.
if he doesn't decide to sit out this year and spend time with his family.

Gayle is thought well-of by league sources. I know an NFL exec who has said as much. She isn't afraid to spend money, stays out of football decisions generally, fired DA when she needed to but generally is loyal and gives people time to work, is pleasant to work with. Compared to somewhere like Dallas or Vegas or Jacksonville, we are nowhere near bottom rung of league ownership.

That said, our cap is the worst in the NFL, we have bottom third of league in talent, and New Orleans is not an attractive media market for somewhere looking to be a star.

Yeah, which is why this CAN still be an attractive job. It just needs to be sold as a fixer-upper that will be treated as such by the higher-ups.

The idea of establishing your own culture and foundation without the immediate pressure to win can be attractive to the right candidates. Like SP at the time.

It's an NFL coaching job with an owner with patience who appears sane. I think people grossly overestimate how unattractive a "bad" coaching job is -- lots of smart and brilliant coaches have taken jobs with awful teams who are more dysfunctional than us. Not many jobs available.

Last I saw, the plane hasn’t even landed in Philly yet. Nice try though.

Wouldn’t expect it ends with Moore flying back, anyway, which would negate the whole point of them traveling to him. Likely won’t be much to sleuth from the visit until an official announcement is made one way or the other.
