True, but he's not the long-term answer.Carr is the best qb on the roster; therefore, he should be the starter.
Next year isn't long term. You play the people who give you the best chance of winning in the season you're in.True, but he's not the long-term answer.
Yeah , because fantasy football is what really matters. SMHI don't believe anyone who actually plays fantasy football considers Derek Carr a viable starter.
LOL after 2 starts he's anointed the savior SMHYeah Atlanta caught a lot of heat for doing that but it's evident that they have their future QB. Has Rattler shown enough to be the future? I don't know but personally I can say that he has potential.
i don't disagree, it's just a painful admission of our present status.Next year isn't long term. You play the people who give you the best chance of winning in the season you're in.
So tell me, which QBs on an every game basis can win you a game on their own ? I count 4I don't know that it is so much being down on Carr although there are some people who don't like him and will refuse to give him any credit. But, the reality is at his age, Carr won't be around for long, he's only got two years left on his contract, and he gets paid a lot of money. The money he makes is about right for the level of QB he is, but we need to find the next guy sooner than later and while Carr is solid, he's not the kind of QB that will win you games on his own and he's not a franchise QB so you are always looking to upgrade from him. The hope is that you can find a young QB making less money for a few years to help get the cap under control and build the team around the young QB before you have to start paying that QB big money.
NO QB this yr , NONEYep. I like Rattler and I think he still has a shot to be the guy, but if the new HC really likes one of the QBs in this draft, I have no issue with them drafting one and having another young QB to hope on. It's much better to have too many QBs than too few.
I don't really like either of the top guys, Sanders and Ward, but maybe one of the lower rated guys have more potential than I see. For instance, I never really get what was seen in Carson Beck and now he has an injury, but maybe he's better than I think he is? Or maybe someone sees how to fix Jalen Milroe if he declares for the draft? I think both have huge question marks, but if they take a shot at one of them in the right round, I would understand taking the shot. If you hit, the upside is huge and the down side of a miss is relatively low.
Can't interview guys that are in the playoffs. So that pretty much leaves VrableThe reason we need to be hearing about interviews soon is for this reason. We really need to get a jump on roster moves that suit the next coach. If Carr knows he’s not going to play, he may want to get out and go to a team where he can start. That could help with both his contract structure and no trade clause.
That said, Rattler hasn’t proven he can be the guy either. He belongs in the league, but I’m not sure he can be more than a bottom 10 starting QB until I see more. If we choose to start him it’ll be a good indicator that we’re rebuilding even if those words aren’t spoken by the front office.
I just hope they don’t play Carr this week.I like Rattler's passing talent and mobility. I'm glad they drafted him and I'm glad he'll be at camp next year. If he can get out of next week healthy, he'll have his first full offseason to process and develop. Is he the future? Unknown.
I do believe that Jake Haener does not have the skillset or talent to have a place on the Saints offseason roster.
There's no way to make this declaration with any certainty.Carr in 2025 is 8 wins max. Would rather see Rattler get 17 games of experience. no chance of playoff berth in 2025.
That would be telling the fans that we don't care if we win games , we're playing for a draft pick. SR needs much more than 1 offseason to be a even close to being a starter if he ever will beI mean, we could strat Rattler next season and tell Carr he's going to be the backup. That might actually make Carr ask for a trade and might make him willing to restructure his contract in order to make a trade possible.
But, I'd personally rather just let Carr and Rattler compete in camp and start whoever the better QB is unless it's really close at which point I would go with Rattler since he has more upside given his age.
Frustration makes people say utterly ridiculous things SMHThere's no way to make this declaration with any certainty.
