According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, which is a government agency. That government is run by Gaza. Whether you believe those numbers is up to you.

What's behind the skepticism of those numbers?

You also have to consider the children who haven't been found because their bodies are likely still under the rubble or will never be able to be identified because of the nature of the attacks..I'd imagine the number is at the very least hundreds higher.

Pretty horrific.

NEW YORK/AMMAN, 24 October 2023 – Over the past 18 days, the Gaza Strip has borne witness to a devastating toll on its children, with a reported 2,360 fatalities and a reported 5,364 injuries due to unrelenting attacks, or more than 400 children reportedly either killed or injured daily.

Here's some before and after Israeli air attack footage in Gaza - you can see how those numbers would make sense...

Hamas is reportedly in Russia today for...reasons.

Getting instructions. Russia needs US involvement in the worst way. We, along with the UAF, are systematically dismantling thier war machine. Putin can't blame it on the West because we aren't really involved outside arming Ukraine. Just like Iran and NK are helping arm Russia.

Iran is also getting instruction.

They trying. Absolutely.

It's less about the numbers and more about the source. The Minstry of Health in Gaza is run by the government and by definition is under the direction and authority of Hamas.

We know a lot of people have already moved south towards the Egyptian crossing, and are stuck there. And we know a significant number have stayed behind for whatever their reasons. And unfortunately innocent civilians have been victims of the shelling.

The scale of the destruction is obvious. I've seen reports of 40% of the buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged. The question of numbers is relevant but I wouldn't say reliable at this point. I'd rather we rely on non government agencies to verify and confirm the reported numbers.

The destruction is horrific, but then war is horrific. The massacre by Hamas was nothing short of a declaration of war, and I have no doubt this is what they were hoping to happen. They want Israel overreact and lose the support of the global powers because their goal is to isolate and ultimately destroy Israel. It's their calling card.

I do think Israel is responding as expected by Hamas. I think Israel is making a mistake by going too far in their response. I think they need to take their foot off the gas a bit and listen to what global leaders have to say. Don't give in to what Hamas is baiting them into. Make sure they use diplomacy to resolve this once the hostages are return and make it clear to Palestinians that Hamas remaining in power is untenable.

I'm not so sure Bibi will ever get there though. Israel needs new leadership in a bad way.

They've woke up the sleeping dog
I want US to be a bear, not a dog. I figure Yogi the bear is too old, so I figure Boo Boo is the new proper elder bear for these troubled times. He always was the smarter bear of the two.

Don't wake up sleeping bears.

Don't wake me up the same as you wouldn't wake up a bear.
