Janoris Jenkins (1 Viewer)

I think the goal will be to put the 3 best CBs out there consistently. That's Lattimore, Apple, and Jenkins.

Jenkins has good slot experience and has the coverage ability to stay with receivers out of their break. Apple has better deep speed at this point and is purely a boundary guy.

I'm speculating, but I think Jenkins plays the slot more and Apple stays outside in nickel. Apple played well last night except for one holding call (and I don't think he's more egregious at committing penalties than others, the refs are just targeting him based on reputation at this point).

That puts PJ on the bench with CGJ playing safety/dime corner around the line where he excels.

I really know little about Jenkins, just repeating what I've read on the internets, and we all know what that means, but I'm in full agreement on putting the best 3 out there regardless of who they are.
And as far as penalties go, I'm now convinced you can call, or not call, PI on just about any play. Of course sometimes it's obvious, but I basically see the same grabbing and pushing play after play, and sometimes it's called and sometimes not. It sure seems like reputation means more than it should, at least when we seem to always be on the wrong end of it. Replay is useless most of the time, but I can see it saving the day on something obvious that was missed.

Jenkins gives us options. PRob, PJ and CGJ are all best in the slot. Jenkins is competition/depth on the outside. In the off-season we re-sign him to a team-friendly deal and compete, or let him walk. We play PRob and PJ against each other in FA and re-sign one of them.

Wow, you guys are all misinformed. Janoris Jenkins is who I wanted last year instead of Eli. I hear alot of speculation in a lot of people's narratives. Janoris Jenkins is a major upgrade over Apple, the hard part is figuring out when will be the right time to bench Apple. You can't do it now seeing he had a decent game last night. I expect Jenkins to make his debut in the Panthers game and be starting by the playoffs.

No...assuming they will rotate or move Apple in slot. Move CGJ to Bell position until Bell is healthy and cut P.Rob. Saints should just eat P. ROB contract let him just go.

Anyone know how Bell is? I hope his injury isn’t serious.

most of the game is played in the nickel. I think you’ll see all 3 out there a lot.

I respectfully disagree. He will be starting by the playoffs. I actually expect to see him play this Sunday albeit not start. No way is this guy brought in simply for depth.

Def not a depth signing. He’s a gamer.

They're more likely to send TJ Green back to the practice squad (the guy we activated when Bademosi went to IR).

And no, I don't think Jenkins replaces Apple. I think he takes PJ's snaps.

I look at this way... we were 1 injury to Lattimore or Apple away from a disaster at CB...

At best... Jenkins represents an upgrade over Apple for a playoff push, should Apple continue to get picked on...

At worst.... He's a quality insurance policy against the possible disaster at CB should a guy on the outside get injured.

I'll take it.

ML is a 1 corner EA is a 1b, and JJ is a 1. Flexibility is not bad. If Apple starts stinking up the joint as he does from time to time we don't have move ML(see San Fran game), instead insert JJ. I just don't think DA is going to sit someone without injury, and keep in mind ML has hamstring problems this year.
