Jonathan Vilma Arrested - Confirmed (1 Viewer)

Sorry guys I didnt read every post just skimmed through it and bash me for it but im a proud Deputy for a local Sheriffs offfice in this great state of Louisiana. I dont comment often but i felt the need to voice my opinion. Before I start, im the biggest Vilma fan and an even bigger Saints fan but this really disappoints me. Honestly if I were in the position of the arresting officers I would have done the same thing if not more. You have to put yourself in these guys shoes for a sec. All they know is they were called to a scene were a person was driving reckless and when they pull some one over you have no idea if that person has a weapon or is drunk or on any kind of mind altering substances. You dont know what your walking into so the first thing I would have done is got the subject out of their vehicle to prevent them from driving away possibly hurting themselves or others second it gets them away from any weapons they have in the vehicle. When given a direct order from an officer and you dont follow thats resisting arrest. Not giving your name counts as resisiting arrest. There is no reason not to follow an order. Now Louisiana Law is different from any other state we have the Napolianic Code so I dont know what the statute in Florida is but in La. he commited reckless operation of a vehicle from the information given. I will however give Vilma the benefit of the doubt however because I wasnt there and in the country your inoccent until proven guilty. I really hope he just had a bad night and everything works out Because hes a heck of a player but that still dosent make him above the law. Thanks for listening guys and as always....Who Dat!

Excellent post, its simple follow the law and trouble usually stays away.I hope that Vilma didn't force his way out of a Saints uniform.Maybe it will be a good thing for us though. We may get him cheap and feel the need to draft a back up plan.

Just reading the report doesn't sound that bad. "Almost hit a pedestrian" is not the same as running someone over. And "weaving in traffic" is changing lanes twice, usually to pass a car and get back in the same lane.

"The get out the car place your hands on the hood" also seems greatly disrespectful if there is no reason or cause to do so.

From the preliminary report, I'm with Vilma on this one.

a possible dui, you get the driver out. the hands on the hood are to check for weapons before conducting a field sobriety test or to observe the driver to see if you smell alcohol or see the person acting as if under the influenece. telling him to get out & put the hands on hood is procedure brother

My mother, all 5-0, 105 of her, got hauled into central lockup for the same reason. Asked the cops why she was being pulled over. Charged with resisting arrest, etc.

After the atty showed the snaps of her bruised wrists, uhhhh, all charges were dropped.

Those are balls. This close, they always look like bruised wrists. Nope, you're looking at balls.

If the Saints didn't can Charles Grant for his off-field misadventures, Vilma is likely safe as well....for now. Although I can see a few hundred dollars being lopped off his contract offer.:hihi:

OK, OK now I'm still half asleep and just quickly scanning these posts and this is the jest of what I've read-

Johnathon Vilma was caught driving while intoxicated while planning a hit with Pacman and TO in his vehicle, hit two pedestrations, threw them in the back of his vehicle, resisted arrest and is now in prison for life.

FOOTBALL SEASON CAN"T START FAST ENOUGH!!!!

Now, let me go take a shower and go meet my caddy at the golf course!!!

You know if that was your wife/child that he almost hit would you being saying it isn't so bad?

I have to speak on this because I can't stand it when people speak on things when if it was them they would be outraged. I am a Police officer in the NYPD now when you weave in out of traffic 1 violation, run a red light violation 2, then almost hit two pedestrians 3 violations., refusing to comply with lawful order to get out of the car that's violation 4. Now as a cop my suspicion is already elevated why? Because this driver is driving like an ****** putting people in harms way. So when he finally pulls over and refuses to comply my suspicion becomes even more elevated what is this guy hiding? does he have drugs? does he have a gun? is he wanted for something? So when Vilma says why do I have to get out of the car? Well I know in this day age question authority is okay. But as a cop my job is to get him out of the car and in the back of mine safely so I can go home to my family.

So now as a Saints fan I have lost complete respect for Vilma for driving like an ******, and then having the balls to say why do I have to get out? when he knows damn well what he did. Too bad too he was the one guy on our defense I really respected not anymore. I'll stick with my Drew Brees, and Duece Jersey no need to buy any other player these days.

I used to work with an MD who was an undergraduate of Miami. He said it was considered a successful football season when, prior to the start of the season, all the football team's court cases were placed on stet docket.

I respect the input from the law enforcement people, however, wouldn't you first ask for my license and registration before you ask me to get our of my vehicle if I'm stopped for a traffic violation?

I'm sure the onboard camera will have this on record. We'll see whether the officer ask for ID and then JV wasn't compliant, or we'll see if JV was pulled over and asked to get out of his vehicle for no reason.
