Please don't quote someone and edit their quote for 2 reasons. One, it's not appropriate and two, if someone wants to relpy to your post, nothing is quoted, and people can't quote your post when responding.
You don't know how hard it was for me not to quote this post and edit it.

Guilty -

sentencing is January 12. I would expect him to get life sentence.
FYI, there's nothing to expect. Second degree murder is an automatic life sentence in Louisiana. Only reason for the delay is to allow time for appeals. But the sentence is already known.

This could get very stupid and entertaining. I know that lawyer a little bit - he's usually more than happy to stir the pot.
To think there was ever a time that I thought she might be a breath of fresh air…

…then again, there was a time that I thought that about Nagin also.

I've known Nagin for about 10 years before he was elected. He was a great guy... until he got elected. We warned him not to run.

I'm with you on Nagin. I really thought he was going to bring change to the city. I was wrong. As far as LaToya, I had some amount of contact with her prior to her being elected and I knew she was going to be bad news. She hid it well before the election, but it was always clear to me that she was a step back to the New Orleans politics of old and just a nasty person who treated other people like dirt. She was also way too close to Marlin Gusman and his political machine.

But, I can see how if you were never close to her, you would think she was a good option. I know people who were close to her that didn't realize how bad she would be.

and that’s the thing isn’t it?
We have a process going on in Baton Rouge that’s rolling one of the last place states backwards decades if not a century or so
But Cantrell ‘s foolishness is what we’re going to talk about
And I’m not just saying this bc if the *wink*wink* no politics thing on SR - but more generally how we deal with news, et al

Yeah, totally agree on the Gusman connection. My mom lived in Broadmoor when she was president of the association. My mom usually didn't talk politics when she was alive, but she was not crazy about her at all. That was my first red flag. With Charbonnet, you knew what you were getting if she was elected (she's who I supported), just like with Mitch and Marc and so on. Cantrell hid her issues well, even as some of it started to come to light publicly.

Because this thread isn't about Baton Rouge. It's about New Orleans. We get it. You don't like the Cantrell bashing. You've made that clear a few times.

However, you're welcome to join the Landry-bashing that's almost universal on MAP. No one's ignoring what's happening in Baton Rouge.

It's always the things people do when they don't think others are looking and how they treat people that work for them that is telling about people. I watched LaToya berate a staff member because she didn't get to talk first at an event. Just straight out dog cussed her while she didn't think others were looking.

you and me both.

Came from biz background, local so understood landscape.

Then he quickly realized what New Orleans politics was REALLY all about and morphed.
