Just another day in New Orleans (1 Viewer)

Didn't they pull a crap ton of cars out of the bayou after that young woman died in hers a few years ago? I know it would take away from the ambiance of the area, but maybe they should consider putting up rails.

The cars were dumped - it’s not like the Kenner cop who just happened to find his way into BSJ- those cars were going to get dumped somewhere and rails are going to prevent the dumping, just the location
So…no rails

I wonder if they found the keys to my Subaru my pissed off room mate threw in there,

No, they pulled a ton of cars out of BSJ, and it helped insurance companies and the NOPD close out outstanding cases.

I wonder if they were to give it a second go if it what else they could find in BSJ.

This is a friend of mine's half-sister and this story needs more attention. Total Failure by the New Orleans Justice System. One of the "suspects" was a juvenile and is standing trial for another violent crime but was recently released to his parent's custody with an ankle monitor. No parent or monitoring oversight whatsoever.

Sorry to hear that. From the article she seemed like a great, fun-loving person.

I didn't know her personally (other than a brief introduction at a children's birthday party or family gathering, etc) but knowing the family, they are all like that. It is a shame and a waste that this happened to her.

Had no clue she had died the end of June. Always liked Jackie.

as a resident of Algiers for the first 28 years of my life, i do have a great story of running into JAckie Clarkson at the intersection of Gen. Degaulle and Rue Parc Fontaine around 1988.

I was sitting behind her at the intersection. No cars coming down Gen Degaulle and this white Cadillac was just sitting there. So a group of cars came and went, and again no CARS and just sitting there. So i honked my horn for them to GO.
The door opens and this lady gets out and approaches my car. I roll down the window and she just starts yelling at me " Do you KNOW who i am?!?!?! I AM COUNCILWOMAN JACKIE CLARKSON" - ( im like 17 at the time, so no i dont know who she was lol )
So i fire back " lady there were NO CARS in sight and you are just sitting here- and i have to be at work now"
She yells back " this is a really bad intersection and many accidents happen RIGHT HERE"
I then yelled back " Well then COUNCILWOMAN....PUT UP A RED LIGHT" and i rolled up my window.

She didnt like that comment.

Fast forward 2 years. I wad dating a gal who was clerking for Judge KK Norman ( got a great story on her too lol ) and we got invited to a fundraising event in Algiers Point. So i rent a tux, she gets dolled up and we go.

It was for Jackie Clarkson. I thought " no way she remembers me"

Yeah she did. We had to leave early. lol.

Can I just say, as one who is Mid City born and raised, when I came home last week to evacuate Hurricane Beryl, I remembered what I was missing, and it made me long for home.

I talked with Ms. Caliente about moving back home (from Houston) and she laid out why it wasn’t possible (cost of living, schools, politics, etc.) and I was quickly reminded why we couldn’t move back (at least not now).

Btw, I ate at Hobnobbers off Canal. There was a Hobnobbers off of Clearview that my family would frequent when we would visit my aunt. It’s still family owned, and the shrimp poboys still slap.
