Marquez Callaway (1 Viewer)

Yeah, it should be MT, Sanders, Tre'Quan and Callaway. When Deonte returns he can just do returns and maybe some end arounds and/or you could use him on 3rd and shorts.

If nothing as a WR, he is certainly a baller, as a returner in KO’s and PR’s. He actually could turn out to be better than Deonte, because of his size. I noticed a few times, he was able to break the first or second tackle attempt, where Deonte goes down pretty quick when a defender gets their hands on him. That is why the NFL is so tough! Just when you think you have things locked up as a player, you get injured and the next man up steals your job.

He's definitely a worker. His special teams ability has been his saving grace. If it wasn't for that he would have never made this roster. But the crazy thing is that his best attribute is as a down the field receiver...and it's a component of his game that hasn't even been exploited. He's very Mike Williamseque with his ability to go get the football in the air. I'm not sure that we have a QB that plays to his strengths though. The good thing is that he's so good on special teams that he will eventually get this chance.

I thought he was THE reason we somehow got that W. He was the only guy playing like he wanted to be there for most of that game. I didn't see too much of a difference between Callaway, essentially in his first NFL game as a returner, and the All Pro return specialist he was filling in for. I still get a little squirrely when Harris fields a punt. Callaway caught every punt and made it look routine. The kid came to play. He was available on offense. He blocked. I hope when Harris returns, we can find a way to keep Callaway involved.

You really can't have enough guys that have the "dog mentality". Thomas and Sanders both have it...they're guys who are going to go and get it. Callaway is the same type of player. He's going to fight to win.

“As perfect as Alvin Kamara. What is it with the Saints picking up undervalued Tennessee players recently? First it was Alvin. Then last year they signed Shy Tuttle as an undrafted free agent and he started several games for them. And now they get a guy who I think is gonna be one of the biggest steals in this draft.

Living in Tennessee I can answer this one. They have been a very unstable team for years (thankfully I think Pruitt finally has them on the right path.) Lots of coaching changes, lots of QB changes...doesn't bode well for consistency or National exposure. I also had Kamara highly ranked because I knew what he was capable of. But in college you had Butch Jones playing Jalen Hurd over Kamara for unknown reasons (after quitting on the Vols Hurd moved on...and has now been converted to a receiver with the 49ers if that tells you anything.) So Tennessee was fully capable of recruiting 5 star talent...they just haven't been using them to their full potential so they fly under the radar (that's been going on since the days of Jason Whitten.) I'm keeping my eye on Jajuan Jennings at SF because I loved that guy at UT.

He looked kind of slow returning those kicks. However, he did get the job done and had some nice returns. His running style reminds me a lot of Colston!

While he doesn’t have elite top end speed he has the incredible ability to see the field. He was finding holes in kick coverage and exploiting them for big returns. He was continually giving the Saints O short fields (which they did mostly nothing with). He also has terrific hands - not one bobbled kick or struggling to field the ball. I was actually looking forward to every punt and kickoff to see what he was going to do. He is going to become a weapon for this team.

We are used to Harris, the human lightning bolt. Thought Callaway looked okay, but not extremely fast, no. Did seem to have great vision and some shiftiness to him, and he got pretty good yardage on returns. I like the fact the he is now a solid option to fill in for Harris whenever needed, and we can use Harris on offense more now without worrying quite so much.

Deonte Harris is a pretty special returner. There's no question that Deonte is the better option in returns while healthy. But Callaway is a strider who can break tackles...he might be better as a kickoff return. I think that both have potential at WR but in different roles.

I really like this guy. I didn't know a thing about him until he became a Saint. He's playing better as an undrafted rookie than TQS played his first two seasons. And his return skills appear to be well above average. I think Callaway has a pretty high ceiling.

He reminds me of Cordell Patterson as a return man. Nothing to do with the fact they both from Tennessee. Just size and return ability. Just hope he develops better than Patterson at WR. Great find as I was pulling for Butler I see why he made the team over Butler. He seems to be plug and play in a lot of different roles.
