[Merged] N/S- Henry Ruggs car accident in Vegas (update from old thread) (1 Viewer)

I tend to think she was unconscious, but I think I saw somewhere that an individual, security guard or something, heard screaming, but I wonder if that came from the woman in the Toyota or the woman in the Vette.
It was the woman in the Toyota. The security guard got to the corvette first, heard screaming from the Toyota, and then ran over to it. He and a couple other people tried to get her out, but she was stuck in there.

Yeah, I guess either the door was jammed or the fire was too intense, maybe both. Sad they couldn't get to her soon enough.

Feels kinda weird to post this. Henry Ruggs 2020 Corvette - customized by Dreamworks Motorsports.

Talks about a K40 radar detector with laser diffusers (what is that)?

Now I have no idea if his car actually had a radar detector or if it did and was in use; but the thought made me think - Is it possible he seen no moving cars and felt he could go “speed crazy” because his radar detector was telling him, no police radars we’re anywhere around?

Just sickening the entire ordeal.

Prayers for the victim and her family.

Wheels were nice...wrap/LEDs were tacky. Anyway, wasn't that not even the highway? Not sure why he was doing 156 on a divided boulevard...even at 3:40a. he needs to be thrown under the jail for this.

That's exactly what I trying to get at when I posted this:
Side note here:

I'm 100% positive I wouldn't be here now if I had any kind of performance car at the age of 22!!! They need to teach these kids to be more practical with their vehicle selection.

...was just making the point that these kids (and yes, he's a kid) have so much money available to them, they end up buying more than they can physically and mentally handle.

I understand why you posted it, but they're still going to buy those vehicles, and for the same reasons they ignore much of the other advice they're given when entering the NFL.

Maybe it can help a small number of players avoid those pitfalls, but I'm not sure it would be a significant number.

Well now we know he was probably laughing and having a good time before he ran into the RAV4 causing the young lady and her dog to be burned alive.

OMG, how horrible. You want to go "joy riding" in Vegas? Lots of desert out there to open your car up. Heck, there's a speedway. Selfish isn't a strong enough word but that is one selfish piece of work.

That looked like a semi residential neighborhood where he was doing that...more money than brains right there. His decision making isn't all that up to snuff, he had to be going ~120 in that clip, he's definitely done...see ya in about 20. He'll be a cautionary tale at the next Rookie symposium.

From the article:
During a court hearing, defense attorney David Chesnoff told Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure that his client had a clean record. “What we have, your honor, is a young man who has never been in trouble before,” he told the judge. “From what we understand, never a traffic violation.”

But court records show that the Nevada Highway Patrol issued Ruggs two traffic citations on April 29, for using a cellphone while driving a black 2021 Ford Mustang, and driving with an Alabama-issued license for more than a year.

He paid a $428 fine, according to the records. A Las Vegas police report from Tuesday’s crash states that Ruggs had a state of Alabama driver’s license.

According to the report, Ruggs was driving his 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray before he veered into the right northbound lane of Rainbow Boulevard before slamming into Tintor’s Toyota RAV4.

The impact pushed the Toyota, which burst into flames, more than 570 feet before it came to a rest near the intersection of Spring Valley Parkway, the report states. His girlfriend was also was taken to the hospital.
