[Merged] N/S- Henry Ruggs car accident in Vegas (update from old thread) (3 Viewers)

That looked like a semi residential neighborhood where he was doing that...more money than brains right there. His decision making isn't all that up to snuff, he had to be going ~120 in that clip, he's definitely done...see ya in about 20. He'll be a cautionary tale at the next Rookie symposium.
Yes he will, but I've been on those roads before. Some of them are 20-30 mph zones and others are 40+. The higher speed semi-residential roads, the homes aren't actually on the street. So it's easy for people to speed there. When I was in Vegas I'd see people frequently exceeding 60 mph.

That said, exceeding 100 is bonkers and I think is actually a criminal offense in Vegas.

And yeah, he was an idiot doing that sober and worse drunk.

Ruggs is being charged with felony DUI resulting in death. Under the statute, a minimum of 2 years in prison is required, and up to 20. Prosecutors may not plea-bargain to a lesser charge as long as probable cause for the charge exists. Probation is not available.

Ruggs is going to prison for at least two years. Under the circumstances, given his grossly excessive speed, his blood-alcohol content, and the horrific manner in which the victim died, I would strongly suspect a greater sentence than the minimum.

Just a awful incident, all around.

Ooh, without an option to plea bargain, stick a fork in him. At least for a good long while. Yikes.

Feels kinda weird to post this. Henry Ruggs 2020 Corvette - customized by Dreamworks Motorsports.

Talks about a K40 radar detector with laser diffusers (what is that)?

Now I have no idea if his car actually had a radar detector or if it did and was in use; but the thought made me think - Is it possible he seen no moving cars and felt he could go “speed crazy” because his radar detector was telling him, no police radars we’re anywhere around?

Just sickening the entire ordeal.

Prayers for the victim and her family.

At least the car was hideous

Well now we know he was probably laughing and having a good time before he ran into the RAV4 causing the young lady and her dog to be burned alive.
you can bank on it this video will be used in court by the prosecution if there is a trial at all.

I'm expecting a guilty/no contest plea, 20 yrs with fries, possible parole with probation for the duration after serving 2-3 yrs in the slammer..and this is his BEST bet.

If they try to plea anything else and this goes to trial...he doing a HARD 10-20 easy in the big house with insane probation extending out past 20.

In both cases that bank account will be wiped out understandably (most people don't set up irrevocable trusts and dump everything into it while they are alive) and he can forget about having a drivers license ever again in his life.

According to the article SC posted above, prosecutors don't really have the flexibility to plea bargain to lesser charges and probation isn't an option.

I suppose maybe down the road he could be released early for good behavior along with probation, but for initial trial and sentencing, he's getting between 2-20 years in jail. Not really any flexibility outside that it seems.

Just heard that it might go up to 40 years if he is also charged with gun possession and self bodily harm with a motor vehicle
Where did you see that? I recall seeing that he had a loaded gun in the car, but didn't see anything about charges connected to it.

“The district attorney said he might also file a weapon charge against Ruggs related to possessing a gun while under the influence of alcohol. Ruggs had a loaded gun in the car at the time of the crash.”

Since the Raiders released him for cause he won't be getting the last 2.5 years of guaranteed salary from his rookie contract and the Raiders can also require repayment of 2.5 years worth of the signing bonus he got.

I see...... This shouldn't drag out too long then I guess.

Wondering if judge will set parole at 2/3 years, 5 or even 10 b/c he's getting atleast 20yrs I feel minimum.

The guy single handedly changed so many lives man smh sad.

Was wondering about that (not that i'm counting his money but more curious could the team null that guaranteed and reclaim other monies)

let the bank account purge begin.

I was wondering....since he is facing criminal charges and likely repayment of NFL contracts and probable civil litigation, can the judge freeze all bank accounts/assets so that he can't move the money in case of future civil litigation?
